Yes, the "sabbatical" from both sites enabled me to concentrate my mind fully on some residual matters, most of which have now been resolved - some more satisfactorily than others.

They take a while, don't they! My Dad only just got my Mum's estate sorted, told the solicitor he as going to sue him if he didn't get his finger out.

When my mother died 4 years ago her solicitor f*cked things up big style - finally billing us £1200 to unlock £300 from a frozen bank account. I wrote to all and sundry complaining, including the financial ombudsman. I had done plenty of homework and was advised that if I sued them, I would almost certainly win, as they hadn't given me (the client) a duty of care.
I never paid up, and as far as i know, the money is sitting in her frozen bank account. The bank will not unfreeze it as it wasn't mentioned in the will, nor did I have PoA.
The lesson is ALWAYS get a Power of Attorney.

Yep, agree. My Dad had POA, it was just a case of the solicitor taking his time about writing to various people etc. In the end, my Dad was ringing up the people, sending a copy of his POA and asking THEM to write to the solicitor.

Dunno, but something odd is happening over there. Hugh mildly insulted me and grudgingly complimented me in the same sentence.
I wonder whether Dean has warned his troops that Turkish big brother are watching his forum, now that they have banned Facebook and YouTube.

There's nothing so slow as Probate lawyers! Did it for a while - drove me off the head. There seems to be an unwritten rule that files have to sit in the filing cabinet for at least three weeks between each letter. It really is quicker and easier to do it yourself if the estate's uncomplicated.

Quite a serious one at the mo.......  Seems they are all over the wires alookin' and acheckin'.............  That is why I have been away for a spell.  No other reason.

Don't trust those Turks.  That is not Dean BTW
