Teenage girl has her clothes ripped off and is sexually assaulted in broad daylight by laughing gang of eight young men in shocking video footage from India

Six young men have been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a teenage girls in northeastern India.

The incident was filmed by a witness, and the footage shows eight teenagers and young men attacking a girl in Jehanabad in Bihar state.

The attackers can be seen laughing and jeering as they tear the teenage girl's clothes off and molest her.

They are seen passing her between themselves as she kicks and screams to try to get away.

No witnesses, including the person holding the mobile phone filming the attack, reportedly intervened.

The shocking video footage was shared widely on social media, prompting police to launch an investigation.

A motorcycle belonging to one of the attackers can be seen in the video, which led police to six of the eight people in the clip, NDTV reports.

Three of the arrested are 18 years old, one is 16, and one is 14, local news report.

'Soon after the video had gone viral on social media the police acted on its own and arrested four of them,' Inspector General of Police Nayear Husnain Khan told The Hindu. Two more arrests were later made.

'We'll arrest those absconding involved in the incident soon and ensure speedy trial in the case.'

Police said they are continuing to look for the remaining two attackers, and are providing counselling and support to the victim and her family.

For too long men have gotten away with this kind of behaviour in these countries where women are traditionally chattel.

This happens virtually everyday in India. They have no respect for women,.

They're like animals and live in medieval ways and customs. Disgusting.

Till males are taught from an early age  to respect women, and are punished for treating them disrespectfully and abusively, I doubt it will stop.

Sadly, there are few countries where women are treated with any respect let alone equal respect.
In Egypt its thought the majority of women have been molested going about their business in the streets while completely covered, a burkha won't save you if you literally get cornered by a man or a couple of men, then rather than stop it other men come and join in handling you all over. What a way to live. In India as we see Eve baiting is consider a humorous passtime, for men anyway, and it seems rape is taking over as the hobby of choice. In fact it seems sexual assault and rape is increasing everywhere.

Having visited Cairo several times, I can confirm that having one's boobs, bum and front bottom groped on crowded streets does happen. The problem there is the smash and grab tactic. They've scarpered into the crush before you register the grope.
