Student Survivors have the Solution, Marching to make Washington Do it's job. Empty Student Survivors have the Solution, Marching to make Washington Do it's job.

STUDENT survivors of the horrifying Florida high school massacre have channelled their pain into political activism.

The group of Parkland teens has announced a demonstration in Washington DC for March 24 called “March For Our Lives”.

The students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS are determined to ensure that the massacre of 17 students, educators and staff in their high school is the last.

“Please stop allowing us to be gunned down in our hallways,” Emma Gonzalez, a high school senior, told Fox News Sunday.

“They say that tougher gun laws do not decrease gun violence. We call BS!” she told a crowd at a rally.

“They say a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun. We call BS!”

The teens are calling on other students from around the country to demand action from politicians they blame for doing nothing on gun control in the face of mass shooting after mass shooting.

“People keep asking us, what about the Stoneman Douglas shooting is going to be different, because this has happened before and change hasn’t come?” Cameron Kasky, an 11th-grader, told ABC’s This Week. “This is it.”

The FBI admitted to ignoring a tip about 19-year-old gunman Nikolas Cruz and Cheeto-Faced Ferret-Wearing Shit Gibbon has pointed to the FBI mistake and mental health problems in the wake of the shooting.

He’s declined to endorse any gun control policies.

The teens who witnessed their classmates die want more from Trump — who has yet to mention the word guns since the shooting — as well as Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Governor Rick Scott and the National Rifle Association, which has vehemently opposed gun control measures.

They plan to create a “Badge of Shame” for politicians who continue to accept money from the NRA.
“At this point, any politician on either side who is taking money from the NRA is responsible for events like this,”
Kasky said. “… The NRA is fostering and promoting this gun culture in which people like Nikolas Cruz can gun down 17 innocent lives in our school.”

High school student David Hogg addressed Cheeto-Faced Ferret-Wearing Shit Gibbon directly on NBC’s Meet the Press, saying: “Children are dying, and their blood is on your hands because of that. Please take action. Stop going on vacation in Mar-a-Lago.”

evidently Emma Gonzalez has managed to Avoid the Brainwashing on Guns that so many Americans seem to be infected with.

the Badge of Shame is a good Idea, All Pollies should be forced to openly Wear disclaimers for the donations they have accepted from lobbyists

GENERATION Z, the iGeneration, Digital Natives, Plurals — now young people aged five to 19 years old have been saddled with another label: they are the mass shooting generation.

And before they’ve even reached adulthood, they are having to demand not to be killed.

On March 24, young people across the United States will take part in “The March For Our Lives”.

It has reached this point. The grown-ups have failed to protect their children, and American kids are standing up to say it isn’t fair that they risk being mown down with a semiautomatic every time they walk through the school gates.

Those gates now come with metal detectors to find weapons, and class timetables feature regular drills on what to do when a gunman starts rampaging through the hallways.

Last week, an appalled mother wrote a blistering post on Facebook about advice issued to the youngest students on how to distract a murderer by shouting and throwing items in the air. “This is the current state of affairs,” she said. “We live in a country where kindergarteners learn how to maximise the number of lives they can save as they’re being massacred.”

Australia regularly had mass shooting, implemented Gun reforms and haven't had a mass shooting since

it's not Rocket Science. it's not even hard to solve and it's been solved before.
Literally the only reason WHY these kids died is because some Americans Can't grow the fuck up and put Children's lives over their desires to 'be big man with a boom stick'.

It ceases to be a tragedy when people allow it to happen time and time again. at which point it is simply Standard policy, which is what the Americans brainwashed by the NRA have done and why the blood of these kids is on the gun owners hand EVEN the 'law abiding ones'

Student Survivors have the Solution, Marching to make Washington Do it's job. 3755771736

That Florida massacre was the 16th school shooting in the USA since the 1st of January...

There have been another two this past week..

Laxt year over 55% of the school shootings worlwide occurred in the USA -- that's more than the rest of the world combined.

No coincidence that the USA also has the slackest gun control on the planet, bar none, along with the highsst gun ownership ratios..

It's not really 'rocket science', is it ?!?

Basketball

There are over 7-and-half billion people on this planet...

315 million Americans live in the USA --  that's just over 4% of the world's population..

Yet last year, they had over 55% of the world's school massacres.

It was also estimated that there were between 330 and 360 million guns in private hands in the USA..  Just  3% of the American population owns half those guns  !!!

A farmer out in the boondocks might be able to justify 3 or 4 guns (e.g. one small calibre, one bigger calibre, one or two shotguns..), a hunter or a sporting shooter maybe 6, 7 or 8 if they can show a wide enough range of shooting and conditions;  but how can any private shooter, other than a gun trader/shop owner or serious collector, justify having dozens upon dozens of firearms..

Other than "I can, so I will,  so there  !"

Texas has 254 counties. The county I live in probably has more firearms that the all of Australia did before it started confiscation.

We are not Australia. We may have 15 million AR15s out there. Plus another 335 million other assorted weapons that are as good or nearly as good when it comes to shooting at unarmed people.

A 19-year-old intruder was shot when he kicked the door of a home in Lakeland open, authorities said.

Officers said Gabriel Jacobs, 19, woke up a husband and wife in their home around 3 a.m. on Shorewood Place by ringing their doorbell.

While the wife went to call police, her husband attempted to speak with Jacobs through their closed front door, but police said Jacobs continued to yell profanities and kick at it while repeatedly ringing the doorbell.

Authorities said the husband warned Jacobs multiple times that he had a shotgun and to stop, but Jacobs kicked opened the front door.

In a release from Lakeland's Police Department they said Jacobs walked through the doorway toward the homeowner, even though he was being warned not to.

As the teenager stepped closer, the homeowner shot Jacobs once in the chest with his shotgun, police said.

Jacobs was conscious and combative when emergency responders arrived, according to police. He was taken to Lakeland Regional Health and is critical condition.

Jacobs could face a charge of burglary to an occupied dwelling pending an investigation.

Could as easily have been a teenager trying to get help for his grandmother, who had fallen off a ladder, a rib puncturing her lung, and was unable to breath.

You can't assume with a firearm. Sadly, those stories don't get told in southern newspapers. Not enough adrenaline-pumping drama to the story.

JURUPA VALLEY >> A 70-year-old armed homeowner was able to stop a would-be burglar Friday afternoon, holding him at gunpoint until authorities arrived.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department received a call Friday afternoon from a 63-year-old female in the 5300 block of Riverview Drive who said her husband, who had a permit to carry a gun, had gone outside to investigate what they believed was a burglary in process.

Once outside, the 70-year-old homeowner found a suspect trying to break inside with a crowbar.

Deputies arrived within four minutes of receiving the call and arrested Jose Rodriguez, 34, of San Bernardino, on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools, and an outstanding arrest warrant.

Rodriguez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Bail was set at $75,000.

Josh Williams, 39, was running about 5:30 a.m. on the north side of Austin's Hike-and-Bike Trail when he heard a woman screaming and pointed his flashlight in her direction, KVUE-TV reported. He saw a man on top of her and realized she was being sexually assaulted.

"I came up, pulled my gun and told him to get off of her," he told the station. "I said, 'Get on your knees and show me your hands.'"

The suspect told Williams that he knew her, but the woman told Williams that wasn’t true.

The suspect ran away, but Williams and the victim were able to give police a description. Richard McEachern, 22, was arrested several days later and faces a sexual assault charge, the station reported.

The woman told Williams that the suspect had came up from behind her and tackled her.

The incident was one of three similar attacks over a several-week period, but police do not believe they are related.

Williams says he’s been licensed to carry the Glock 43 for about 10 years and uses it to protect himself and others.

“I didn’t think I’d ever have to pull it,” he said to the station. “Did I want to? No, but it was just right place, right time.”

Williams has kept in touch with the victim since the incident and says she has continued running on the trails.

“I don’t see myself as being a hero,” he said. “But I guess I am. It's pretty cool."

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ)-- Yvonda "Bonnie" Gatens woke up to the sound of a man trying to pry open her bedroom window early Christmas Eve morning.

Gatens lives off Showen Hill Road in Putnam County. She and her late husband built their home 40 years ago.

After she heard the noise at the window, she called 911 and grabbed her gun.

"I told him 'you're going to die' and he fell over to the side," Gatens explained to WSAZ.

Putnam County Sheriff's deputies responded to the woman's call, but they were unable to find the person.

Despite losing a sense of security, Gatens is relieved everything ended up OK. Now she's encouraging her neighbors to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.

"If you come in here, it's going to be you or me, and I'll see to it that it won't be me!" Gatens said.

Keep checking WSAZ and WSAZ Mobile for the latest information. WSAZ will continue reaching out to investigators to see if an arrest comes.

Well regulated would mean gun owners would be proficient.

In any event, what it means is really not open for debate, it's been decided.

People need firearms proficiency to defend against young soldiers of a standing army who might be, in Madison's words, "rendered subservient to the views of arbitrary power." Hamilton also elaborates on ideas that would later lead to the Second Amendment, and particularly the notion of a well-regulated militia. He is unambiguous in Federalist 29 on the point that people have a right to their weapons, and that they need not attend formal military training to be part of a militia, which would be "as futile as it would be injurious, if it were capable of being carried into execution. A tolerable expertness in military movements is a business that requires time and practice. It is not a day, or even a week, that will suffice for the attainment of it."

By definition, then, a "well-regulated militia" would no longer seem to include the National Guard, which does require formal and sustained military training by the regular Army. At any rate, in its present incarnation, the Guard — as we saw in Iraq and Afghanistan — is a "state" force in name only. In practice, it is a part-time Army Reserve: a national army that happens also to be used for natural disasters in home states.

http://theweek.com/articles/629815/how-alexander-hamilton-solved-americas-gun-problem--228-years-ago

There is virtually no need to try to "guess" what the 2nd Amendment means. It's well spelled out in the Federalist Papers, regardless of cute, meaningless memes.

No need for courts, who presumably "guess"??

What makes the Federalist Papers the authority?  They are a collection of 85 articles and essays written under the pseudonym "Publius" by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, appearing in the Independent Journal, the New York Packet, and The Daily Advertiser between October 1787 and August 1788.

Imagine if we said the Supreme Court doesn't need to "guess" at their decisions. They can just cite the Dear Abby advice column.   She's got better circulation than The Daily Advertiser.  Rolling Eyes

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police believe a Fort Bragg soldier shot and killed a man attacking his wife Tuesday evening, according to WTVD.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. at a home in Fayetteville. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wife was reportedly outside smoking a cigarette when an unknown man approached her, pulled a gun and forced her inside the apartment.

The husband, who was upstairs, heard the commotion and shot the suspect when the attacker pointed his weapon at him.

“Military people around here, they’re gonna have guns,” said property manager Donna Quiles. “You can’t just go knock on a door and expect not to be met with a gun when you know that the military live here. And I support anybody who carries a gun to protect themselves.”

MARION, Ark. — A woman shot a home intruder Sunday morning, killing the 19-year-old man, authorities said.

The Crittenden County Sheriff's Department said ADT alarm company received a burglar alarm call at a house on Marion Lake Road at 3:31 a.m. Sunday.

The alarm company made contact with the homeowner, who is in her late 80s and lives by herself. They called officers in Marion and Crittenden County, who responded.

The woman told authorities she called out to the intruder who forcefully entered the home and ordered him to leave her home. She said he advanced toward her and that's when she shot him in self-defense.

Four men who were planning to break into a home in Keithville are caught when the female resident shows up with a gun.

Sheriff Steve Prator says the incident happened just before 10 a.m., when deputies got a call from the 11000 of Peggy Lane in Keithville regarding a burglary in progress. The homeowner told deputies several men were at her front door dressed in hoods and carrying backpacks. When she met them at the door with a handgun the suspects fled in an SUV that was parked in the bushes.

The sheriffs office got another call from an alert neighbor who said they witnessed the hooded suspects on the porch of the home and spotted another man hiding in some bushes.

Caddo Sheriff’s Lt. Jackie Lewis spotted the suspects’ vehicle and stopped it in the 3200 block of Colquitt Road. The vehicle contained several backpacks, masks, a large knife, and marijuana.

Deputies arrested 20-year-old Jacorey Fuller, 20-year-old Andre Ealy, 20-year-old Tristen Bradley, and 24-year-old Micah Eugene have each been charged with simple burglary, possession of marijuana and possession of burglary tools.

A woman says that she exchanged gunfire with a group of people trying to break into her home.

The incident happened just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday inside a home on Alonzo Fields off Foster Road near Wagner High School.

Surveillance footage shows one of the shooters walking with a gun in front of the home. The homeowner told KENS 5 that she heard banging on the front door and someone yelling "SAPD."

She knew something wasn't right because her house is in the county, which is covered by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

The homeowner says that she grabbed her phone and a gun. Moments later, her back door was kicked in.

From the top of her staircase, the homeowner told us that she started firing shots. The gunmen fired back then took off, but not before shooting the front of the house too.

IN THE days after the horrific massacre at a high school in Florida, the most eloquent responses came not from police, parents or politicians, but from high schoolers themselves.

Overnight, teenagers in Washington staged a dramatic “lie-in” outside the White House to demand that elected representatives take some action on gun control.

About 100 students took part in the powerful protest, which saw them lie on their backs across the pavement in a stark reminder of the lives lost to gun violence.
Some chanted “shame on you”, while others carried American flags or signs that read, “More guns, more murder”.

Maya Smith, 15, told AFP she feared for her life when she walked into school “because the government won’t decide that my life matters as much as the right to bear arms matters”.

High school student Juneau Wang added: “Students should be worrying about a bad test grade, not the fact that someone could walk in with an AR-15 any time during the school day.”

Ella Fesler, 16, told AP: “Every day when I say ‘bye’ to my parents, I do acknowledge the fact that I could never see my parents again.”

It’s possible that the students’ impassioned pleas are already having an effect on the man in charge.

Failing Cheeto-Faced Ferret-Wearing Shit Gibbon’s spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said overnight he was “supportive” of efforts to strengthen the background check system for those buying guns.

A 15-year-old teenager has been arrested after an 84-year-old pensioner was robbed and raped in her home, police said.

The woman had been sleeping when an assailant smashed his way into the house in the Waikiki area of Perth, Australia before he pinned her to ground and sexually assaulted her.

He then forced the woman to wash herself in a shower in a bid to clean away any DNA evidence of the attack before he ransacked the property, according to reports.

The woman, who lives alone, was left badly injured and traumatised after the assault. She was hospitalised overnight but released the next day following the attack on Friday.

Police on Sunday arrested a 15-year old over the assault.

Forensics officers have been combing through the woman’s home for DNA evidence in order to build up a case for prosecutors.

Senior Constable Rulan Carr spoke out after the attack, warning elderly people who live alone to be vigilant.

She said in a report in ABC News website in Australia: "In relation to her welfare, we're glad to say she is doing well considering what she has endured and it is our hope that we can resolve this matter for her and for her family as soon as possible.

"It is an opportunity now to say to our community members of all ages, but especially the more vulnerable, that you can never be too safe.

A teenager has been charged over a terrifying daylight sex attack on a woman in Perth’s south east.

The 47-year-old victim was walking along Eighth Road in Armadale around 5pm on Wednesday when she was allegedly attacked and raped.

Police have described the attack as both brazen and horrific.

It is alleged the attacker stalked the woman before pulling her to the ground and assaulting her.

The alleged attack lasted for just over a minute before passersby on the busy road stopped to help the woman and the man ran off.

Police arrested a 19-year-old in Brookdale a few hours later.

He appeared in the Armadale Magistrates Court on Thursday, charged with aggravated sexual penetration without consent and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He’s been remanded in custody to appear in court again on Friday.

the failing of the police is a few circumstances doesn't means people should go full retard and arm themselves out of Cowardly Paranoia, that just exasperate any existing problems and creates and exponential violence cycle like in the USA.  it's a very Primitive society that gives up on organised law and order because of a couple of crimes. especially when by every measure guns legal or otherwise Increase violent crime
I mean just look at the massive amounts of death in the USA, no one would want to emulate that.... No I'd much prefer to be Sensible Adults (although they may be teens in the USA) that proceed with the concept of Law and order and don't want to chuck it all in to pretend we're cowboys(bushrangers down here) again

It's not like People look to the USA laws as an example of 'working gun laws' ... but they (even the USA) do look at Australia's working gun laws . tongue tongue tongue tongue

Those dumbfuck Republicans are doomed --  and those perverted bunch of retards will only have themselves to blame...

Those inbred and braindead rednecks, wife bashers, paedo's, KKK whackjobs, neo-nazi freaks, "militia" wannabees, rapists, drug dealers and arms merchants who voted Trump into power are mostly in their 60s, 70s, and 80s..

As they die off over the next 20 to 30 years, these teenage protesters will be coming into their prime;  and good riddance to every scumbag who has ever voted Republican.  I couldn't even be bothered shitting on those fuckups --  they are beneath contempt...

I posted stories of women doing just that. Maybe you missed it as there are so many stories of Americans stopping crime with their own guns. Hard to weed through all of the examples I imagine. I'm sure your poor reading skills don't help either. Smile

Too much TV...the righteous always win.

They don't have a script that matches reality.

Does a strong, armed woman make you a little nervous Quill?

It's not an individual thing.  It's a zeitgeist.  The scripts by which gun enthusiasts envision the world, always see them winning by virtue of their gun.  The truth is, life is a lot more risky.  The gun is just another ingredient in any mix...and even though you may bring it, there's no guarantee it's on your side.

Not at all.  I've always loved strong people.  Right or wrong, they tell you what they believe.  As Aqua used to say, confrontation is cleansing.

Ok, so you support the right of an individual to be armed, just like me.

I can feel our kinship growing.
