Australians beat the world’s biggest countries to top the world for illegally downloading The Red Woman, according to TorrentFreak, which estimated Australia represented 12.5 per cent of all BitTorrent downloads for the episode.

Downloads Down Under were followed by those in India, with 9.7 per cent, the United States with 8.5 per cent, and the United Kingdom with 6.9 per cent.

if you knew how many MORE aussie artists there are now thanks to piracy you'd be amazed.
Strangely removing the Economic burden on artistic production does NOT stifle art. quite to opposite it Opens it up to all, Even if they don't have big budgets to produce the same old mass marketed crap that they know makes a dollar.

In the past a musician or actor could only charge those that saw them in the theatre that night, not record it once and expect the be paid over an over again.

If i write a bit of code i don't expect to be paid every time it is run. and as someone that does produce things of greater social value than a song. Fuck'em society needs to return to the starving artist then maybe there wont be so many wankers in the industry for money instead of art and maybe some of the VAST amount of resources that are wasted on pop culture, literally to pay actors millions for a job an real artist would do for food and shelter, can be used for something of Purpose and Value! the actor is not intrinsically valuable as the skill doesn't transfer to other applications, as opposed to engineer etc that has maths skills that do transfer to many things.

And we are fixing the current Situation through piracy, the only negative is to greedy 'record labels' and film studios that ARE THE PROBLEM!! You seem to be Under the misconception that we think what you have left is good? it is not, anyone that is not a baby boomer can see how bad it is, even Gen X that were in their 20's for 'greed is good' rubbish got that from where? ohh that’s right it became fashion as soon as the baby boomers were in control of corporations and media, as soon as they were expected to pay taxes for the future generations education etc, then it all switched now those in the 30's and 40's (back in the 80's) could say 'greed is good' and it should be 'User pays' now after they had all the benefits of social services drawn from the public purse and NEVER repaid.

'Gen' Y' wastrels and the latest self-declared "Millenial wankers" have been throwing these lies around among themselves in recent years, with the result that having repeated their fairystories often enough, a lot of them are now believing their own propaganda, and a few are now just waiting for their parents and grandparents to drop off the twig, so that they can take over the family home..
ALL because so many of their generation have been spending their hard earned on drugs and partying and overseas travel, not bothering to plan for the future.

LET'S JUST CONSIDER  a few 'real world' home truths :
*  The "Baby Boomer" generation comprises everyone born from 1946 through to 1961/'62 -- i.e. those aged between 54 and 70..
*  Baby Boomers grew up during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and many smaller conflicts, witnessed the first man in space, the first men to walk on the moon, the growth of computers and the development of the internet, mobile phones and satellite navigation, organ transplants;
*  The so called "greed is good" selfishness did not start in the 1980s with deregulation of banking and stock markets in the US under the Reagan administration -- but actually had roots back in the heady days of the 1920s, before those good times were so rudely interrupted by the Great Depression, WWII, the "Cold War", Vietnam War and the "Energy Crunch" of the late 1970s;
*   The great majority of "Baby Boomers" are in reality nowhere near as universally well off as veya and his generatipn keep on insisting -- less than 30% have sufficient superannuation/pension plans to be considered as self-sufficient; around 60% here in Oz own their own homes, a lot less in many other parts of the world (in many places, all land is owned by less than 10% of the people..); less than 20% have shares held in their own names, less than 10% own 'investment' properties..
*   MANY Baby Boomers will never be able to 'retire' - not necessarily because they didn't want to plan for their future - but basically due to simply not earning enough to do so, and in many cases suitable venues and regulations weren't in place until the 1980s and '90s...
*   WHEN real estate prices started sky-rocketing in the 1990s and early 'noughties', it wasn't only Baby Boomer retirees investing in property and dabbling in land speculation -- there were (and are still..) also a fair whack of Gen' X and early-Gen' Y investors in there bidding up those property prices, often backed up by "old money" (i.e. pre WWII..) as security.

NOT EVEN ONLY Half true, on that one; to wit :
Australia had free tertiary education introduced in 1972 (for the 1973 intake..) -- however, that only abolished the uni' and college fees -- there was still accommodation, text books, travel costs and the likes, to be covered by either the parents, or the students themselves finding work..
AND THEN, That also meant that the first half of the ''Baby Boomer" generation fortunate to be attending Uni'or college were pre-"free" education down here. Back then they either earned scholarships, or it was 'user pays'.
PLUS, there's also the small fact that less than 20% of students went on to uni' and college back in the 1960s, less than 25% in the '70s -- compared with over 30% these days..

LABOR P.M. Bob Hawke introduced HECS (higher education contribution fees) to cover a portion of education costs, in the late 1980s.
These fees have been subsequently increased by L-NP PMs John Howard in the late '90s/early noughties, and Abbott a couple of years ago; while Turnbull and Treasurer Morrison are currently looking at the graduate wage/salary levels that repayments is introduced at..

and thus seen Why baby boomer are such whinger that try and deny their faliure, All those dicks voted in on the baby boomer vote. thats why to get the baby boomer vote, when baby boomer need uni the politcal parties made it free to attaract their vote. when the baby boomer had to pay for the next generation the political parties made it user pays again to attract the baby boomer vote. and that is just one of the issues in this country that we can see is flip flopped to whatever suited the baby boomers stage of life.

Even now with youth unemployment high what is the gov't spending money on... Tax breaks for employing old people!!! Who gives a shit that no one is paying to train future generations!!! Just make sure baby boomers gets to coast in relative luxury to the grave.

also there is STILL all the same cost to go to univertiy, but they are now HIGHER in comparison the average wage let alone the lower wage that most students will have.
And university fees are on top of that to the tune of $10,000's

And stats show that over 70% of housing investors in Australia are baby boomers that have denied home ownership to the majority of young australians.
All those housing stats Seem high compared to what all new generations have to face with home ownership under 30% now.
And a minority Cant retire, So what what the Majority of every generation AFTER the baby boomers will never be able to retire either because of the system the Baby boomers created.

AND THEN there's the % owned by governments, corporations and businesses, and Chinese interests.

THAT Sydney real estate must be controlled by a very small % of the population, in that case !
