Laser Shone At Virgin

Police are now hunting for the suspect who shone a military strength beam into the Virgin Atlantic cockpit in a zone a few miles west of Heathrow last night (main picture). The attacker, who could face jail, was using a green laser that can melt plastic at close range and was so powerful it managed to injure the pilot flying at 8,000 feet.

Jail the twacks.

First you've gotta catch them. Lasers may be the next terrorist 'pickup truck'...in the hands of everyone, yet can cause so much damage.

Sounds a good idea as more and more people seem to be able to get hold of these lasers. The thought of kids getting hold of them is quite scary, they could easily blind each other.

They also sell cheap low power lases for cats to chase.

My vet says he's seen several cats with eye damage caused by them.

Yes, I think they can do some damage if they're shone straight into eyes. People are stupid about these laser things, especially children. There have also been incidents involving stupid kids shining laser pointers into the eyes of bus drivers via a mirror.

Didn't they search the passengers to find out who had the laser? That seems to be the obvious thing to do.

Rags, the laser was shone from the ground into the cockpit. It was not in the aircraft.
