Well... He told the 'gestapo' where to go... And they fukked off without doing anything!
So he must have been well within his rights to do so, and for whatever else was going on to continue... And the police were obviously without jurisdiction to be there on that property!!!

Yeah, the legality of many of these "orders" are questionable, at least here. Governor's and the like don't make laws here. That's part of the legislative process. So in areas that have some respect for the rule of law, the police will back off of someone, especially on private property, because they are not enforcing "law". They will threaten and bully, but behave pretty well on camera if you stand up to them.

Re: He told them.
Laws and policies are two different things, and the executive branch of a government normally retains the ability to set policies like Trump's travel ban from Muslim countries. They're reviewable and reversible, but governments must have that sort of power to act in emergency situations.
These cops probably figured in the long haul, a dramatic confrontation would cause more harm than good.

Yeah, these policies can be overturned by the courts, like a lot of Trumps policies. It's why police know better than to wade into these "edicts".
Everyone on that piece of private property had rights, and these cops were wise enough to acknowledge them when challenged.
