I've been told that Nicko has passed away

I got a private message from his account stating that "my dad passed away February 16."
This makes me so sad. He was a loveable man who will leave a gaping void in this forum and in the lives of his loved ones.

Oh no. This is incredibly sad news. I really had hoped he’d somehow get through this, even though I knew he wouldn’t.

Saddens me also. Despite differences, I liked Nicko. RIP friend.

I had a strange inkling about this. Truly a sad day. I really liked that guy, and I will truly miss his thoughts. He got to the point and made it clear where he stood. A man's man and I admire that.

He had been poorly for a very long time

Sad news indeed. WE were never tbe best of buddies on here, but suddenly too many people are passing away. Irn Bru, Vic, Nicko, all in quick time.
He will be sorely missed.

I am truly saddened.
I know he said he hoped to hang on long enough to celebrate his birthday in January....and he did.
He was a really lovely man. He will be greatly missed on here.

Me and nicko disagreed on a lot, but he was a funny, genuine kind of guy. I liked him dispute our differences. I think we would have had a proper laugh together had we been lucky enough to meet in real life.
He made it through 2020, a fighter till the end. Just glad for him that his pain is over

Such sad news. I remember being horrified by his descriptions of how ill he was. Poor man. I’m glad he’s not suffering anymore.
He always asked what was new at the library. I like to think he enjoyed some of my recommendations.

I looked in yesterday and had a sinking feeling this was coming
I really liked nicko. he could always make me laugh with his self deprecating humour. He reminded me very much of my dad.
I'm glad he's at peace now and no longer in pain but I will miss him a lot on here. such sad news but thanks for letting us know, Ben.

So, sorry about Nicko. He was an interesting guy. He and I disagreed about Trump, but he was entitled to his opinion. He will be missed!

I had feared that this was the case when I didn’t hear from him for so long and I knew that he had been given a terminal diagnosis.
He was so kind with supportive PMs during my own illness and breakdown back in the summer and we shared a number of interests such as our service backgrounds and, notably, his passion for his Range Rover and my own for old Land Rovers. I got quite a ribbing from him when I finally succumbed to the temptation of Range Rover comfort over my old bone-jarring (though still greatly cherished) 50 year old “real” Landy.
I shall miss you, old friend. Rest in peace in Valhalla.
