Being currently pretty depressed at the news I thought I might get a bit frivolous and ask - Starting with the 50's and depending on which era you started in which bands did you like, or before that if you wish, personally I quite like a lot of WW2 wartime music.
I think I may have forgotten more than I remember but here's mine, all well known of course. The 60's have the most for me;
Rolling Stones, Who, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Kinks, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Byrds, Hollies, Yardbirds, Dave Clark 5, Small Faces, 10c.c, just a few as there were so many to choose from, what an era that was something for everyone played anytime on the radio and no specialist categories.
70's : Eagles, Aerosmith, Foreigner, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones
80's : Guns n' Roses, Bon Jovi, Queen, Duran Duran, Iron Maiden, Chilli Peppers, The Cure, INXS, Aerosmith.
90's : Kasabian

Great thread! I love all the ones you mentioned so instead of retyping, I’ll add some more: (someblend through multiple decades)

50s - Bill Haley and the Comets, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Little Richard

60s- The Door’s, Beach Boys, pretty much all the girl groups of Motown, Pink Floyd

70s- AC\DC, Pink Floyd again, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Aerosmith, The Jam, The Clash, Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult, T-Rex, The Sweet, KISS, The Police, The Ramones, Motörhead, Crosby Still & Nash (no young), Boston, Genesis.

80s- Judas Priest, The Jam (again but Paul Weller swoon), U2, TalkTalk, The Go Gos, Icicle Works, Souixie and the Banshees, The Damned, AC\DC (with Brian Johnson this time), Metallica, Depeche Mode, REM, The Smiths

90s- Nirvana, Gin Blossoms, They Might Be Giants, Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Jesus Jones, Weezer, Offspring, Tool, Garbage, Megadeath, Rammstein, Mastadon, Slayer, Pantera

2000s- Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, Linkin Park, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, White Stripes, Evanescence, Black Label Society

2010s, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Black Keys, Deafheaven, Deerhunter,

Just a few :8

Nicko - I had thought of adding them. They were good but not great in my opinion. Same with Slade and some other bands. But yeah I have kind of headbanged to them. lol!
