Scientists Have Found a Way to Translate Brainwaves into Speech ‘With Unprecedented Clarity’

In a scientific first, neuroengineers have created a system that translates thought into intelligible, recognizable speech.

By monitoring someone’s brain activity, the technology can reconstruct the words a person hears with unprecedented clarity. This breakthrough, which harnesses the power of speech synthesizers and artificial intelligence, could lead to new ways for computers to communicate directly with the brain.

It also lays the groundwork for helping people who cannot speak, such as those living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or recovering from stroke, regain their ability to communicate with the outside world.

These findings were published today in Scientific Reports.

with the right supporting infrastructure this could lead to something like cyber-telepathy

it would be good, it means you no longer have to here one side of a conversation when some uses their phone on a train etc. they can just silently 'think' the conversation over the 'phone'

I do think that it will be beneficial to include pets and higher primates into our community...meaning that term to denote communication and transmission of thought.

it is working towards the Cure Wink

the only real Cure for Cancer is to Not Rely on Flesh and Bone for a vessel.
