Disgraced former Labour minister Denis MacShane took a swipe at prosecutors for pursuing 'celebrity' cases,comparing himself with Coronation Street star Bill Roache as he was released from jail today.

Prison is 'the place' to go to to lose weight and get fit and is 'fascinating', the ex-MP added as he walked free just six weeks into his six month sentence for fraudulent expenses claims totalling nearly £13,000

Is prison the right place for him anyway? Six weeks seems to have little effect on him. Perhaps he should have to pay the money back x10 ie £130,000. Maybe he'd think twice before doing it again since money is his motivation Twisted Evil

That's a very good idea FTL. It would cost him and not us. He represents no threat so i's an ideal solution.

Still if he refuses to pay guess what prison is the only option. Sequestrating his property is a mine field when you think how little property has been sequestrated from Drug dealers and the like.

The liberals have wanted lesser and lesser sentences and they have had them for years now.

They said that prison was cruel and did nothing - they wanted prisons improved, they now have that.

And we have to suffer the consequences of criminals who now fear nothing.
