Ahhh, sad.  John Denver died when he crashed his Cessna push-pull light plane into the surf off of Santa Monica, CA.

Glen Campbell, former studio guitarist for Roy Orbison (who wrote the song Pretty Woman), is now suffering from dementia, but still gives concerts tho he has to be led onto the stage by his wife.

Randy Sparks, who wrote Today and Green Green, and organized and sang in the New Cristy Minstrels, was last seen as a clerk in a dry goods store in Big Bear Lake, CA.

Bobby Hatfield died of cocaine overdose in a hotel room in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Bill Medley, his partner in the Righteous Brothers (You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling), still sings in minor clubs.

Producer Phil Spector--one hit with the Teddy Bears (To Know Him is to Love Him)--and inventor of the Wall of Sound, was convicted of murder of actress Lana Clarkson in his Alhambra, CA mansion, and now serves time in the California Mental Health facility in Stockton, CA. I knew them all when I was a (very minor) studio guitarist in LA, and we hung out at Doug Weston's Troubadour on Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood.  http://www.troubadour.com/

Sturgill probably set a record for most East Asian place names in a single country song with this one Smile

Not corney. One of the late-1950's hits, sung by the Teddy Bears, of which Phil Spector was one. But Spector is better known as a music producer, who produced such acts as...

Wiki wrote:Spector began his career in 1958 as the producer and co-founder of the Teddy Bears, performing on guitar and vocals, and penning their US number one single "To Know Him Is to Love Him". At the height of his success, he wrote, co-wrote, or produced for girl groups such as the Ronettes and the Crystals, and later, the Beatles' John Lennon and George Harrison – often using the Los Angeles conglomerate "the Wrecking Crew" as his de facto house band. Spector's other chart-topping singles include "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" (the Righteous Brothers, 1964), "The Long and Winding Road" (the Beatles, 1970), and "My Sweet Lord" (Harrison, 1970). By the mid 1970s, Spector had produced more than thirty US Top 40 singles for various artists, but following sporadic work with Leonard Cohen, Dion DiMucci, and the Ramones, he remained largely inactive.
