First topic message reminder :

What little luxuries do you buy or do for yourself to make your life more comforting?

I hate winter, but coming back into a warm house and putting on snuggly socks always makes me feel comforted.

Lone Scot??

S'cuse me?

Hi Bella.  You wouldn't be from the Clan Swan, would you?

My Dad always said he belonged to The Mackenzie clan and wore a Mackenzie tartan tie until he died. Smile

Very sorry to hear about your cat, I hope she still might turn up as they do sometimes. They get to be part of the family Sad

My old 20 year who was born in our home, lost him in July Crying or Very sad

Your cat is lovely....I recognise your avi too, hello again Bella. Smile

Hello  again Syl Smile

Getting back to the luxury thing, it would be candles, perfumes and soft fluffy rugs at this time of year plus some good logs to burn on the fire. That "Hygge" thing.

This is the little stray cay Mini who turned up several years ago, she had been abused and has arthritis...and she never ever meows. She is quite fierce but I love her.

We're looking after my sis-in-laws dogs today. Nothing better than coming in out of the cold to two wagging tails waiting to be fussed.

Later i'll be snuggling up on the setter, the small one on my lap, bigger one by my legs, bliss!

You wont need the central heating on Mags. Laughing
I love dogs too...they are a lot more faithful than cats, and are grateful for everything and anything.....cats are just users. Razz

A middle aged couple I know take in dogz to look after when people go on holiday, they make a fortune.
Yesterday 4 new arrivals came to them.

Some years back we had dog sitters in for massive dogs, cost a fortune.

I imagine it does pay well Major. One of the most worrying things when people go away is how will their pets cope, and lots of people hate putting them in kennels or catteries, so having someone look after them personally would be money well spent.

My grandsons mum has a dog walker Major....she is brilliant. She also takes the dog home with her for hours so he doesn't get lonely when grandsons mum is working long hours.

Could she deaf? or maybe never been socialised with other cats?

I doubt the not meowing is much of a problem, it's when they vocalise too much that usually means an issue, like feline dementia etc.

Anyway glad to get back to the warmth of the woodburner and a glass or 3 of red wine after a freezing day in Newcastle, thick snow fall on the fells coming back although I doubt it will lay.

I love them too Nicko, but compared to dogs they are very aloof.
The thing I don't like is most of the ones round here use my garden as their own personal toilet....that's a tad annoying.

I didn't know that Bella.
Anyway, Mini isn't deaf, she can hear the patio door opening when she is half way across the field, and even with arthritis she can still run like the clappers to get in before the door is closed again. Laughing
