Good for Tesco!

Major household brands including Marmite, Flora and Persil detergent are in scarce supply at Tesco, as the supermarket has become embroiled in a row with supplier Unilever.
The consumer goods company, one of Tesco's main suppliers, is believed to have demanded a 10 per cent price rise because of the falling value of the pound against the dollar and euro.
It halted deliveries to Tesco when the supermarket refused.

Opec and Russia have already announced they are cutting supply...

So... what does that tell you if you apply the basic economic rule to this...?

Oil is traded in USD so you don't have to be a genius to figure out that with a low exchange rate GBP/USD that the price is going to rise whatever happens.

but they are betting on it going down because you lack trading partners or economic plans and vision or hope of future prosperity.

the Price of a Pound has devalued as Brits have just advertised the fact the primitive hillshepherds out number the economically savy and they are more than willing to cut off their nose to spite their face.

Arrow

A MORE concise way to look at how the poundmsterling is dropping  :

Next time an Aussie, Kiwi, Cannuck or Yank tourist travels over to the UK, they can buy an extra 11% more for the same amount of dollars as previously...

While Tommy has to pay 11% more for that petrol, oil or gas that he is buying from Russia..

One thing that those hillshepherds will have to celebrate, though...

They will be getting that much more these days for each sheep that they export into Europe..

I remember years back when we had that heatwave in 1976....the price of veg went sky high due to drought. When the drought was over, the prices stayed the same. This is how retailers work. Any chance to make a profit at any expense. Opportunist. All this fuss, and you can purchase most of those goods in any store anywhere in the UK. It's not as though people will die from lack of Marmite.

can I point out that Marmite is made in Burton-upon-Trent from yeast extract which is by product of the brewing industry, almost all the ingredients are sourced in the UK.,
