The last hour of your life...
If you knew that your life would end in an hour, what would you do with that hour?...
I would be with the kids , as many would I guess, but say you had no family whatsoever, what would you do with tour final hour?..
Maybe a daft question but I always like to read the replies!...

Write! Whenever anything happens I write, so that would definitely be it. I think. Or paint, one last painting, get everything I feel on canvas. I think. Or write, about children, lovers, places that I would never see again. I think. Or paint. You can tell I have really made up my mind lol! I'd probably take so long dithering the hour would be over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An hour is not enough time to do anything meaningful so I suppose drink and smoke like a motherfucker.

Re: The last hour of your life...
Disagree, you can write a poem in an hour that would be your legacy for all time.

Re: The last hour of your life...
I think if I only had an hour left, I'd head over to this place and do some property damage. I'd rather see them defeated intellectually of course, but if I just had an hour, I could get there with a little time to spare ...
Re: The last hour of your life...
Oh Wow, I can see why!. Love the one about the sex-ed poster! Fancy actually talking to kids about real sex!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: The last hour of your life...
I know, right? Here's a bit about that place's founder, David Barton:
He founded WallBuilders, a Texas-based organization which promotes the view that it is a myth that the US Constitution insists on separation of church and state.
Barton collects early American documents, and his official biography describes him as "an expert in historical and constitutional issues".[6] Barton holds no formal credentials in history or law, and scholars dispute the accuracy and integrity of his assertions about history, accusing him of practicing misleading historical revisionism, "pseudoscholarship" and spreading "outright falsehoods".
According to the New York Times, "many professional historians dismiss Mr. Barton, whose academic degree is in Christian Education from Oral Roberts University, as a biased amateur who cherry-picks quotes from history and the Bible."
ton has appeared on television and radio programs, including those of former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and Glenn Beck. Beck has praised Barton as "the Library of Congress in shoes".

Re: The last hour of your life...
Exactly JD. I think it would have to be writing though, not all paintings work out, and if I had to chuck it away in the last few minutes that would not be good lol.
Got this off the top of my head:
Life slips from you fingers
drifts from your hands
Like mercury insubstantial
And yet
In your head it's relived
every sweet moment savoured
like ice cream on your tongue
If only
When young you knew how fast
those bright green days
full of promise, would fade.
But then
A pall would lie over them
a cloud would hide that sun
that made your youth sparkle.
Regret nothing
Not the excesses, or the joys
Nor the sorrows or the lovers
They are what made your life
You have lived
And you have lived it to the full
no half measures, never fearful
taking opportunites in both hands.
Now
The greatest mystery to be solved
Just nothing? Or part of universal energy?
Or Heaven and Hell?
Turning the final page

it is quite interesting what thoughts of death are..
My poem would be simple and not take an hour
"time to go home"

Lucky! Too much to choose from in my part of the world. I live within driving distance of Glenn Beck AND George W. Bush ...

My end of life haiku:
Just one hour to live,
But 'Kill Bill' lasts four hours.
OK, 'Scrubs' it is.

Re: The last hour of your life...
That was quite cool and well worded Sassy, had meaning to it, especially the youth fading bit, well all of it!
I would like to think I've grabbed life with both hands , but that's not been the case with me, but I think if many were to read this, they would relate to every part of it...
Nice on Sassy!

Sassy mentioned poetry, not me.
Now, I can take a bit of banter, I'm not insecure about what I enjoy and couldn't care less if someone doesn't like what I like but you just constantly use it as shitty ammunition to try and talk shit to me so kindly fuck off.

Sorry to be off point,
r u just in to Anime or Manga too?
Princess Mononoke is one of my all-time favourite films
http://studioghibli.wikia.com/wiki/Princess_Mononoke
Like so much of Hayao Miyazaki work to dismiss it as a 'cartoon' is a massive dis-service to the arts.
and 'Grave of the fireflies' oh my god, how can anyone not tear up.

I'm more into anime than manga but there's a few I read.
Anyway, Studio Ghibli always produces good stuff, I watched Spirited Away when I was about twelve or so.
My personal favourite by them is Porco Rosso.
My favourite anime though would be Serial Experiments Lain.

Re: The last hour of your life...
I hardly know anything about anime, but back when I had cable I used to watch a (now-defunct) channel called Tech TV that ran 'Boogiepop Phantom' late at night. Always thought the theme song to it was so cool, just this over-the-top disco-funk stuff:
Re: The last hour of your life...
Boogiepop Phantom was nice but VERY slow paced.
It's not something you'd want to marathon.
Apparently you need to read the Light Novels to appreciate the anime because it assumes that you have read them. The atmosphere was great though and I liked the style they went it.

I can't really remember the overall plot of it though, I do have it saved on my computer though so I might re-watch it sometime when I have the time.

I think I downloaded the first episode off Amazon and never even watched it.
So, for a newbie like me, what would you recommend?

Re: The last hour of your life...
I like quality, really -- stuff that's smartly written and executed. But a shortlist of my favorite shows and movies (desert-island stuff) would include Kill Bill, Battlestar Galactica, Homeland, Buffy ... I guess I do tend toward action-y programs, and spy fiction. I like a lot of comedies as well but I don't imagine there's a lot of comedy-oriented anime -- but what do I know?

There's absolutely loads of comedic anime.
Anime is really just animation from Japan. It's not a genre or style unto itself. You can find an anime of any genre.
Off the top of my head if you want something funny I'd say Cromartie High School although it's fairly old so most torrents won't be well seeded.

Re: The last hour of your life...
@QoH
Read the novels? that spoils the fun
I don't watch many Movies or TV because they are too slow and treats the audience like children.
IMO the Anime/Manga series are better because they are fast and don’t spend ages explaining everything, you have to concenrate to follow the story.
Wolf Reign, Berserker and Samurai X (Kenshin) are the main Series I have watched, Seen a fair bit of Dragonball and Naruto as well.
@ben
Wolf Reign is good, defintily not for kids, Highly political/psyhcological metephorism, I think you would like it. Personally I would recommend some movies first, some of the series can be a little long. IF you havn't seen Grave of the Fireflies you MUST. it is only animated because you could not get children to act the highly emotional scences (as opposed to the epic-gore, supertech or megaboobs that would require too many special effects to make most Manga live action).
I assume you have seen 'ninja scrolls' the movie (one of the earlier ones in the West, sometimes called '7 deadly ninja scrolls') if not it is good and where a lot of the manga Cliches comes from. There is a series by the same name that goes into more detail, it came out almost a decade later (and the graphic novels which both are from was obviously first).
Oh there is HEAPS of Comedy Anime you just need to watch with real subtitles as they very rarely translate the jokes (can be quite sexual) as Westerners tend to think they are meant for kids. Trigun is DEFINITLY one you should watch, Funny tales from a space cowboy.
