Basement

Why have Ragga and Nicko been put in the basement? I didn't see any abuse. What rules were broken?

I'm not sure Nicko is in the basement although Veya has said he basemented them both.
I am waiting to hear why.

No one told me i'm in the basement, if so why?

Okay here's the deal.

Veya put rags and Nicko in the basement last night (though he physically didn't basement Nicko due to some mistake or other I presume) and I have left a message asking why as I can see no reason for it, I have looked.

Ben isn't around this week so the rest of admin will find out what's going on in due course ie when Veya logs on.

Maybe we could all revolt and post only in the basement till they are free.

You may post wherever you like.

the Biggest problem on this forum is the Whinging about supposed injustices. so the solution is get rid of the whingers.

Another solution would be to ensure all moderation is fair.

Threads like this tend to get closed sooner or later so let me quickly chuck in my 2 cents worth while I can.  

I like Veya V (yes, despite me being at the receiving end of one of his outbursts once - and I think it was the first time ever he spoke to me, I was new here. Talk about a baptism of fire!!).

IMO the  mistake that he made here is to ban two people without saying why. Trust me, as someone who has been a mod in some other forums I know that you MUST tell the members why someone is banned. You don't need to explain in detail or justify yourself but you must at least give the reason. Not giving the reason is why the thread exists.


Now, as far as "fair moderation" is concerned - well that's a minefield innit? "It's not fair, It's not fair"  is the plaintive catchphrase of every toddler so I tend to avoid all such talk, in response to modding decisions. Besides which I don't feel it is my place to comment on such decisions anyway.

Another thing - the mod is chosen by the owner.  Whether you think the mod is a fair/nice/decent person or not, the point is he is the owner's choice,  and that's that.

On that note, may I politely ask when are the bans of Handy Andy and 4EVER up, please. They livened the place up!

Handy Andy and 4ever were not banned - they were basemented.
4ever hasn't returned and despite the war that we sometimes engage in, I actually quite like her.

I don't agree with bans.

You may avoid the word "fair" in regard to moderating....but others don't, I think it's a pretty descriptive word to use when talking about bannings. basementings etc etc.


Personal likes or dislikes should not come into this, be it from the mod to the poster or from poster to mod....obviously it sometimes does cos people are human, but it shouldn't...not if everyone is being FAIR....

I agree with you that perhaps it's always best to tell everyone why a poster is being banished to the basement......even if one of the posters 'Nicko' could still post everywhere he liked and the other Rags, hasn't been on since to post at all.
