UN’s Michael Møller Reveals 17 Facts That Will Change Your Understanding Of The Refugee Crisis Empty UN’s Michael Møller Reveals 17 Facts That Will Change Your Understanding Of The Refugee Crisis

Journalists and politicians are wilfully ignoring the facts about Muslims and migrants, a senior figure in the UN has claimed, leading to a complete misrepresentation of the refugee crisis engulfing Europe. Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, argues that contrary to popular belief, the number of refugees relative to Europe’s population is tiny, and violence is not the main reason people leave Syria. And the claim that this is the ‘biggest refugee crisis since the Second World War’ is completely incorrect, he tells The Huffington Post UK.Møller, who spent more than 35 years at the UN, including working as Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon’s representative, laid out 17 things he believes we have got drastically wrong in our understanding of the crisis.

He said he is “baffled” and angry that the narrative around refugees does not reflect the facts, leading to counterproductive actions like cutting financial aid to countries around Syria, which “obviously” forces people to move on from underfunded camps. He accused the media of reducing refugee stories to the “lowest common denominator” and politicians of “pandering” to xenophobic views to win elections. “It doesn’t need to be this way,” Møller said in an interview with HuffPost UK. “We have the means, we have the experience, we have the human capital and certainly we have the money to deal with these issues in a very, very different way. “We keep repeating the same mistakes... and we end up having to pay 10 to 100 times more for the consequences of the stuff that we didn’t solve in the first place.” In a wide-ranging interview, Møller laid out basic facts that should make people rethink the refugee crisis:

There are 17 points he raises on the article, which people can read for themselves.
He makes some good points and some really bad points.
I agree that the world does need to be doing more to help the refugee numbers and that this should be spread out evenly across the world.
He is though misguided to think  and argue that people are wrong to have concerns about high levels of Muslims being allowed entry where in many cases, like in Germany they were not even checked. Based onthe very fact, ISIS have sent some operatives with the refugees, then by turning a blind eye to ensuring that we should be properly checking those seeking assylum and those who are eonomic migrants, who have jumped on the refugee bandwagon to gain entry.

This is what he states on the following.

We have a serious prejudice against Muslims

Møller thinks that one reason the current refugee disaster has been mishandled is because most of the refugees coming to Europe are Muslim. “Eighty per cent or so are Muslims, and this plays a role, because the narrative about Muslims has been incredibly negative, surprisingly so,” he laments. “Every Muslim is depicted either as a terrorist or just purely a criminal, which is completely unacceptable.”

This is for starters as per usual from the UN a way over the top exageration.
If we were that prejudiced, we would never have elected a Muslim as Mayor of London.
What he is again doing, is placing the rights of one minority over over the concerns by other groups and minorities like women, homosexuals, religious minorities.
For starters the high levels of antisemitism within the Middle East is going to rightly concern Europoean jews, where we have already seen a mass exodus of Jews now leave, going to the only place in the world, they are at least guaranteed protection.Women will have genuine concerns, the LGTB community will have genuine concerns over the high level of refugees coming into Europe. The fact of the matter is that those who are literal Muslims will hold views and beliefs, that will clash with the well being and equality of groups protected in our society from discrimination. The reality is with such high refugee numbers and no real programm in place to educate them on secualr laws. teach a zero tolerance policy on that if any refugees are found guilt of discrmination and hate crimes, that they will then end up failing their refugee apllication to remain in that country they have gone to reside in. Now if we are ever going to solve this very real and geuine problems. Which will because of the high levels of numbers make integration that much more difficult. espcially, when both the EU and the Un should have set up, fianance and run holding camps for all the refugees. In order that they can be properly vetted and have programs to teach the laws and way of life in the West. So it is the UN and the EU that have failed here and helped allow prejudiced to form, because again they are surrendering Liberal values and equality, by not recognising the geuine concerns people have over having so many people with beliefs that will clash with who they are in society.

You see his next point, misses the boat completely as its only viewing the situation from the position of the refugees themselves and not sparing one thought or concern that many of these refugees will have beliefs that discriminate and view with prejudice women, homosexuals, religious minorities etc.

The role of the press is threefold, says Moller: “One is to inform, second is to educate and third is to hold power to account.” “It’s the second one I have a problem with, because the education role of the press in general has been set a bit aside over the last few decades.” Although many people can easily access information about the refugee crisis online, there is a “crying need” to give people more context, he says. “Most of the seven billion opinions on the internet are very ill informed, so a lot of the readers are not educated and they have a narrow point of view coming from local communities. So if we want to avoid chaos and a cacophony that isn’t leading us anywhere, we need to be much better at educating and informing people about the context in which every single one of them lives. “There is practically nothing that isn’t online if you search long enough. But the problem is that people have to know what they are looking for, and they have to be given an incentive to do so, and that’s where the media has a role.” He also believes eduction in schools needs to explain the crisis and equip young people to demand solutions.  “In most countries, we are educating the youth for the problems of today, and yesterday, not of tomorrow.”

Not only is the above misleading, grossly exaggerating and again rendering groups that have no support, human rights and protection from discrimination if they lived within Syria themselves. To now have their conncerns ignored and be deemed as less equal to that of refugees themselves.  Plus many Muslims have been listening, indoctrinated daily for years of the countless naratives of hate invented against the west and the countless absurd conspiraicies. Ignoring these very facts, is just asking for trouble, as seen no view or consideration has be taken into account for groups, that if they lived even before the Civil War in Syria under assad, many were have been denied many of their human riights and protection from discrimination. It is this shortsightedness and ignoring these problems exist, is where the UN more than anyone else lacks education on the issue. I like many want to help refugees, but you simply cannot allow many people to come in, have little checks and fail to have programs in place and run by the Un and EU to help teach these people how to live in our societies. So he does make some good points, but as seen, by ignoring those from groups that have geuine concerns over how they will live, work in the same society, when both the EU and UN have been the real failures here, by not setting up a body to help deal with the crisis. Now they have one for the Palestinians, who after 60 years, this body UNRWA, has to be the biggest and most expensive failure in history. That now after all these years. Yhey have utterly failed to solve the Palestinian refugees by pushing for them to be mader citizens of the nations they reside in. This failing in itself by the UN, does not bode well, espcially when no real pressure has been applied to the Arab nations to stop wasting money and time and make the people in refugee camps into citizens. As they will still maintain their refugee status. So in that regard and again here, the UN must take a far greater share as to why they not mamde the Syrian refugee crisis and implimented many measures to help deny the fear of prejudice growing. If such measures and holding camps had been set up, with programms to help integrate the refugees, thenm this more than anything would have helped ease some of the concerns people have. So on that aspect, again as far as i am concerned, the UN is simply useless and has in fact by its failing only made the refugee crisis worse.

his points 5 and then 12

5 Migrants are good for every country

12 Syria is making other countries collapse like dominoes

Møller says it is the responsibility of Syria’s neighbours to help the refugees arriving in their countries, but adds: “If they don’t have the means, there is a limit to how much they can do. A third of Lebanon’s population are Syrian refugees. It’s collapsing, it’s enormous.

If point 5 is true....why isnt lebanon now the richest country going????

All those coming from Turkey should be returned to the Arab league to deal with... with the large numbers of those (not even being Syrian) should be returned by them to their countries of origin...

Those coming from North Africa should be returned to the African league of nations to deal with... overwhelming vast majority of them being sub Sahara Africans...

Shouldn't they be segregated into Shi'ia and Sunni first, and then left-handed and right-handed?  I mean...as long as you're doing all this sorting.

So that would be up to them to sort out... if needed...
