Re: Who Is This
Oh, you beat me to it...but I thought her name was Rachel...something or other! I've got my stash of old thriller/killer movie genre and I had one with her name on it --- When the Stanger Calls --- something along that line! Dang it, just can't put my hands on it. But I do think you're on the right road...

Well done both of you...it was Rachel Roberts and the film was Yanks. (Bonus point for Quill there ) I loved that film...shot in my part of the world and so underated.
Rachel Roberts was also brilliant starring opposite Richard Harris in "This sporting life"

My mom got me hooked on those British made mystery/thriller/who done it genre movies and my all time favorites are the 'Charlie Chan' sets --- I do think she played some minor roles in a few of his as well. Darn Good viewing without all of the racial/vile words and ugly f'bombs as well. LOL

Re: Who Is This
Was your mum an actress?
Some of the old Brit films (the ones from the 60's are my favourites starring the likes of Alan Bates, Lawrence Harvey, Albert Finney) were a lot better than many of the Hollywood blockbusters that are churned out today, and the sound quality was better too....not sure why.
With all the modern techie stuff around the opposite should apply, but sadly it doesn't.

Re: Who Is This
LOL, no...she had aspirations to be a mystery writer and she loved trying to solve the Murder/thief/who done it before the end of the movie.
In her later years I couldn't take her into a movie theater --- she'd be speaking out loud and telling the actors WTH to do --- annoyed the people seated around us...so I went to buying the movie set and we'd watching over & over & over again!

He looks so familiar and I've watched so many of those British sitcoms...but they do appear differently in their make up and period costume; but I think he played a regular on one of them about a retail store.
Hmmm, I'll rack my fuzzy brain and see what rolls out --- or someone else can pass me by and tell me...

Ahhh I thought she had appeared in some of the films, I misunderstood.
My next door neighbour appeared in Coronation St last week....he was the lad in the background at the gym.
My mum loved the films too 4ever, it was our Saturday night treat when I was a kid.
Her favourite film was 'Imitation of life" I bought the DVD in her last few months here, hoping she would remember some of it but she had lost interest.
I will leave Stormees latest one for a bit to see if you can remember it. x

Rachel Roberts was ultimately a tragic figure. An alcoholic Welsh woman (who isn't somewhat wacky, from Wales), her love-of-her-life was Rex Harrison, whom she married and divorced in 1975. She moved to Los Angeles and when a reconciliation didn't happen, she committed suicide in 1980.
The Welsh, like Irish, are so brilliant...and so often end tragically.

Before his death, he was an excellent stock player in military and historical roles. He acted with Sean Connery in The Hill.

Did not like her.
Jill Bennet
She was arrogant wasn't she.
She used to remind me of this woman....not sure why though.

Yep...she was married to him back in the day, and Fawlty towers would not have been as funny without her input.
Your turn....and in the meantime I will find a REALLY hard one.
