Professional surfer Mick Fanning has had a lucky escape after a close encounter with a shark in the final of the J-Bay open in South Africa.The 34-year-old world number three surfer from Australia, dubbed "White Lightning" for his speed, was floating on his board when beast surfaced behind him, knocking him into the water.

I didn't see that. The bull sharks have been quite active around the Atlantic seaboard, over here.
