Jock Ovic does it again

Defending champion Novak Djokovic saw off seven-time champion Roger Federer in four sets to win his third Wimbledon and ninth Grand Slam title.

The Serb, 28, won 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (10-12) 6-4 6-3 to overtake the likes of Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi and Ivan Lendl in the all-time list of major winners.

Federer, 33, had hoped to become the first man to win Wimbledon eight times.

The Swiss won a thrilling second set tie-break but Djokovic came through to win in two hours and 56 minutes.

"I have to say it's a big challenge playing against Roger," he said. "A lot of players of my generation have looked up to him and followed his lead.

Great occasion and the best man won on the day. Too many unforced errors caused much of Federer's problems but he went down fighting as hard as he could.

I'm not into watching sport, prefer to play it than watch it, but did see a little bit of federer in his match before Murray and thought he was on fire.

Was going to put a Tenner on him to beat Murray... but didn't think he would win the final... that would have been a good 'double' bet!

I thought that the way Federer was playing all through the tournament was as good as I had seen him play anywhere. Like you say he was on fire and had blown everyone away.

Was hoping for a 5 setter.

I didn't see the final... did he run out of steam a bit or was he just out classed...?

Jock Ovic was just too good on the day but Federer difn't help by making so many errors.

Run out of steam probably had a lot to do with it as well.
