No surprises there.
In Osbornes and Camerons dystopian Sheriff of Nottingham world, the rich would pay less tax than the servants.
All sound unrealistic, but he is testing the waters.

AND JUST wait until your guvm'nt starts talking about raising your VAT by another 5%..

AFTER ALL, they have to drag back that shortfall in revenue from somewhere !

AND THEN after that, they will start in on how aged pensions and other welfare costs will be overrunning the national economy in the near future ~ while all the time steadfastly refusing to acknowledge the simple fact that closing all those fiscal loopholes for their millionaire chums could easily support welfare, health and education rises forevermore..

SUCH IS the way of the 'Robber Baron' Conservative mindset, wherever one bothers to look...

You make a valid point, LW. "We have no intentions of raising VAT" was an outright and damning lie , as it had already be already discussed at shadow cabinet level and approved in 2009 by Cameron and Osborne
One has to assume that EVERY financial scenario has been discussed and run through the computer simulators.
The problem is real people, who get hurt and bankrupted by the immoral philosophy and mantra of hurt the poor to help the rich,
