Mayor of Jerusalem apprehends knife-wielding Palestinian who stabbed ultra-Orthodox Jew

A young Palestinian stabbed an ultra-Orthodox Jew in Jerusalem on Sunday before being apprehended by the city’s mayor and his bodyguard, police and the municipality said.
Mayor Nir Barkat said that as he was driving past city hall, his team saw “a terrorist with a knife”.
“Along with my bodyguard we immediately jumped out of the car,” Barkat said in a statement.

“He (the guard) drew his gun and aimed at him — we grabbed the terrorist until the police arrived,” he said, adding that they also gave the stabbing victim first aid.
Police said the stabbing took place between the Old City and the western sector’s municipality, and that the suspect was an 18-year-old Palestinian illegally in Israel who was “taken in for questioning”.
Police said the victim was stabbed in the stomach. A spokesman for Israel’s emergency services said he was taken to hospital for treatment.
The motive for the attack was unclear but it came after a series of knife assaults by Palestinians on Israelis.
Last month, a Palestinian with a knife attacked passengers on a morning rush-hour bus in Tel Aviv, wounding 12 people before being shot and wounded by a passing prison officer.
In December, a knife-wielding Palestinian wounded two Israeli police officers in Jerusalem’s Old City.

A security guard and the Mayor of Jerusalem `happened to be on the scene--later, the Mayor was found boasting that he had apprehended the Palestinian.

The Palestinian was arrested and taken away for interrogation (beatings and torture).

This isn’t the first time that the Palestinians have spread this lie, the most recent example in 2013 during a similar period of bad weather.
Looks like the Palestinians and those media outlets who parroted the lie have been dam busted.

That was from 2013 not the the week. And middle east monitor published that Gaza was flooded then by Israel pumping out the surplus water. It wasn't a 'river dam' anyway

Civil Defense said about 50 homes sank in the floods, while a number of local residents in eastern Gaza areas were reported injured. There were also reports of deaths of livestock and poultry.

“The [Israeli] army opened the floodgates of a canal leading to central Gaza, which resulted in the removal of sand mounds along the border with Israel,” Gaza's Civil Defense Directorate said in a statement.

“Opening the levees to the canal has led to the flooding of several Palestinian homes, and we had to quickly evacuate the afflicted citizens,” it added.

Due to unprecedented water floods, local authorities were forced to block the main road connecting between al-Mughraqa district and Nusseirat refugee camp south of Gaza city.

Civil defense was also able to secure the exit of hundreds of Palestinians who were trapped in the floods. Those who were evacuated from the area were placed in makeshift shelters, said local al-Ray news agency.

Almost every year, the Israeli authorities open the floodgates to their dams in the direction of Gaza and without prior notice, to discharge massive quantities of water that had accumulated due to the heavy rains in the Naqab region.

Thats from 2007. Beit Lahiya is where Israeli pumps excess water after snow and flooding, across the border onto the Gaza strip, it is just above Gaza. In this case they pumped so much because of the amount of snow and rain thaey have had it ran down through the canal into Gaza City and flooded it.

It wasn't a river it was a resovoir and they have sluice gates - a dam, and it was in Israel. According to Middle East Monitor they opened them and flooded Gaza

The resovoir has a sluice gate to release excess water. The article already posted tells you that the water was released.
