Ukraine’s election suddenly got a bunch more interesting with the news Darth Vader has decided to stand for election.

Representing the Internet Party of Ukraine, Darth Vader stands alongside Stepan Chubakka (Chewbacca), Master V. Yoda, and Padme N. Amidala. You can tell it’s not a joke party because no one changed their name to Jar Jar Binks.

Though the party leader isn’t the only Darth Vader - there are 4 in the Internet Party, 16 other candidates with the same name - he can lay claim to potentially being the baddest, reputedly one of the Ukraine’s biggest cyber criminals.

At least they make amazing tv ads.

According to the official government list of parliamentary candidates of the Internet Party of Ukraine, the candidates are quite a young crowd, ranging in age from 21 to 33. While little is known about the backgrounds of many of the candidates, the founding member of the Internet Party of Ukraine is Dmitry Ivanovich Golubov.

Though the Internet Party is running on a platform of technological advancement and an end to corruption, some in Ukraine have reason to doubt that. The Internet Party's founder is Dmitry Ivanovich Golubov, allegedly one of the biggest cyber criminals in the country. Known as "Script," Golubov was arrested in 2005 by Ukrainian police on suspicions of trading credit card details stolen from websites, before he was released.

Darth Vader has long been a symbol of their party. In February, Internet Party activists dressed as Darth Vader and Stormtroopers protested outside the Justice Ministry in Kiev in defense of the group.

In total, the Internet party has seven Darth Vaders up for election along with at least four other candidates with Star Wars themed names.

In a galaxy far, far, away — Odessa, the third-largest city in Ukraine — several Star Wars characters have managed to register as official candidates in the upcoming election. With names like Darth V. Vader, Stepan Chubakka (Chewbacca), Master V. Yoda, and Padme N. Amidala listed on the candidate roster, voters can't be blamed for looking twice at the ballot.

According to the Central Election Commission, the Internet Party candidates have had their names legally changed. All are running on the party ticket of the Internet Party of Ukraine, headquartered in Odessa, and appear on the official list of parliamentary candidates.
