Tories accused of child porn cover up

Downing Street has been accused of a cover-up after it emerged that one of David Cameron's closest aides was apparently told he was suspected of child pornography offences hours before police could arrest him.

Patrick Rock, who served as Mr Cameron's deputy policy chief, resigned shortly after the allegations were put to Downing Street on February 12.

He was not arrested by the National Crime Agency, however, until the "early hours" of the following morning.

A No. 10 spokesman refused to confirm whether Mr Rock, a long-standing friend and colleague of Mr Cameron, had been informed of the allegations by Downing Street before his resignation, claiming it could "prejudice" ongoing investigations.

It also emerged that Mr Rock, 62, was previously accused of sexual harassment by a colleague. The complaint was made to Ed Llewellyn, Mr Cameron's chief of staff, and Downing Street indicated that the Prime Minister had been informed.

I wouldn't mind betting that the Daily Mail were tipped off about this and that's why they picked up on the old story about Harman so as to try and balance things up a bit.
