New new rule

Obviously I never intended to ban memes. I hope my point did come across:

If you want the freedom to post things that might intentionally or unintentionally offend someone, you need to allow that others can do the same thing -- and you might be offended.

We've had so many calls to ban this word or that member, it felt like a good opportunity to point out that being offended is a risk and sometimes even a reward of forum life.

Anyway, all the threads are being unlocked. Next time you look in on them and somebody's told a joke that you think is in poor taste, try to see past your own personal reaction and ask whether the person posting the joke is really trying to offend you or to be offensive.

If not, of course, you're banned.
