Labour Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson arrested in bribery probe

Liverpool's mayor Joe Anderson has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit bribery and witness intimidation.

He and four others were held as part of an investigation into the awarding of building contracts in the city.

It is understood the Labour Party has suspended Mr Anderson pending the outcome of the case.

The year-long police probe, Operation Aloft, has focussed on a number of property developers.

Liverpool City Council said it was co-operating with Merseyside Police.

A police statement said those arrested include two men, 33 and 62, both from Liverpool, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit bribery and witness intimidation.

A 46-year-old man from Ainsdale has also been arrested on suspicion of the same offence.

The other two arrested men are a 72-year-old man from Liverpool and a 25-year old from Ormskirk, who have been arrested on suspicion of witness intimidation.

Developer Elliot Lawless was arrested in January and denied any wrongdoing. He remains on conditional bail and was not one of the five arrested earlier on Friday.

Derek Hatton, the former Trotskyist deputy leader of Liverpool City Council, has also been arrested by Merseyside Police investigating alleged fraudulent property deals, MailOnline can reveal today.

I think the parties have been identified: Mr. Anderson, Developer Elliot Lawless, a couple of others, and the Merseyside Police. We are now on to the allegations and the evidence.

I believe it is less so in the UK. I'll say it again: the UK did not bring slavery home, and thus they have less a sense of superiority/animosity toward blacks than the US...particularly in the south.

Still, certain individuals in the UK choose to believe that blacks and Muslims are genetically prone to criminal behavior. It's rarely discussed in depth.

It's easy to find endless examples of murder of the most heinous kind, in all colours, races and creeds of people - eg men murdering their own children out of spite towards a partner - and sometimes sexually assaulting them first -and imo that is far worse than some street tramp murdering to steal a gucci bag.

Look at the demographic and economical reasons behind crime - instead of this lazy simple-minded colorising of crime.

Young black men are between the age of 18-40 make up around 0.5% of UK population but make up nearly 15% of prison population!

"...About 51% of boys in young offender institutions (YOIs) – prisons for boys aged 15 to 17 and young adult men aged 18 to 21 – identified as being from a BME background, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons (HMIP) found.

In addition, the inspectorate found 42% of children in secure training centres (STCs) – prisons for children up to the age of 17 – were from a BME background..."

So, you think all of this is the result of a gene that determines, or is coextensive with dark skin pigmentation? Have you got any proof?

While we are at it, have you uncovered any genes causing light skin pigmentation, that is coextensive with enslaving others? I see a pattern in white skin behavior too.

What a crazy fact. White people, who make up the largest percentage of the population by far, represent the largest percentage of people involved in certain act. Guess that's why they represent about twice as many of the victims of police shootings. Who'd a thunk it.

When the Irish, the Jews and the Germans first immigrated to America, they were responsible for the most violent and sexual crime. Now, they're just white Americans.

When you put people of a certain identity into the category of "outsider," and discriminate against them, more of their members will become criminals -- that's just human nature. It has nothing to do with the color of their skin, their nation of origin or their beliefs.

Also, men aged 18-35 commit the most crimes in any society, anywhere in the world.

Especially those whose parents didn't want them.

Approximately 20 years after abortion was legalized in America, there was a dramatic drop in violent crime. Why?

Because women who didn't want to give birth in 1973 suddenly were given the legal right not to.
