Trump dithers as America burns

The White House is conducting press conferences daily during the Covid-19 fun-times.  Trump engages in lies and exaggerations, as usual, to try to fend off blame.  While he was holding up production of tests that could inform us of the horrible status of things under his watch, he was telling us that there were only 15 cases in America, and that it would be over "by the weekend".

Yesterday, he was touting a malaria drug that could be re-purposed as a "cure" for Covid-19, not telling us that it would take a year and a half to properly test (it's a drug that is deleterious to heart patients).  He is dithering, while he tries to assuage fears, but standard to his MO, he can only pitch falsehoods and outright lies, aimed at fending off the blame that he actually deserves.

This is dangerous in times when information is crucial.  So this thread is intended to correct and clarify the misperceptions and bullshite that he leaves to us.  

My daughter was on that drug (plaquenil) for Lupus and it affected her kidneys and she had to come off of it. It can be toxic for kidneys.

Friday: Trump closes border with Mexico. He's been wanting to do this anyway. He jumped at this opportunity!

Tax day was moved three months forward, to July 15th.

Suspended all penalty and interest levies. Also, suspended all interest and penalty on student loans.

Trump goes off on reporter, further contributing to divisiveness and antagonism in the country, despite need for unity amid crisis.

Trump is the leader of animosity and anger.  He just set back 'togetherness' about two years.  He is not serious about it. There's the answer to those who think Americans should all sit around the campfire and sing Kumbaya. Ya give 'em an inch, they'll take a mile.

Impeached President Trump now admits that millions of lives may be lost, putting the lie his claim a week or two ago that only 15 Americans were sick, and all will be gone by the weekend.

I saw that idiot insulting the reporter. Somebody should bash his head in. Trump is the most worthless waste of skin in the world.

That malaria drug is actually being promoted within medical circles as a treatment along the same lines as antiviral medicines --  used to treat symptoms and allow the body to fight back (as long as side effects allow its use).

It is not being offered as a "cure" along the same lines as vaccines might be --  only Trump is doing that..

When it comes to killing viruses, bleach compounds and alcohols will kill viruses, as will directly applying heat --  unfortunately these will also kill the patients as well,  so are not directly applicable for medical use.

One thing to note about this current crisis,  is that the response was taken out of the White House's control months ago :

A couple of American uni's were already involved in the international research efforts since last year;
The Fed' Reserve was already preparing to release an extra $1.3 trillion week before last --  at the same time that Trump was still publicly denying the threats;
Despite the funding cuts, and the lack of co-operation from the private sector, the CDC and many state health bodies over there were already acting ahead of the White House..

Team Trump, their private health fund backers, and big Pharma' are all actually following the crowds over there --  not leading, but still looking for any opportunities to profit.

It's because of Trump's bastardry, denials and general  indifference that Amerikar's response is trailing 2 weeks or more behind the rest of the world.

Not two weeks, Wolf.  In many cases, it's two years.  In his daily press conferences Trump has taken to talking about things that come up in these inspiration sessions.  New drugs, new masks, new ventilators, new beds, new hospitals...he talks about these things as if they are a week off.  In fact, they are years off.

Rachael Maddow is calling for her employer, NBC News, and other major networks, to pull the plug on these live daily presidential press conferences.  She argues the press conferences are doing more to deceive the American people, than inform them.

If anything truthful comes up that the public should know about, she argues, a tape rerun of it can be played on the six o'clock news.

When Trump starts lying about the coming productivity and cures, a reporter calls him on it...saying his lies are giving a false hope.  Here is president sunshine promoting unity, urging everyone to sit around the campfire and sing Kumbaya...



So much for the credibility of the doctors standing on that stage. They obviously think people should take up Trump's suggestion that people feign malaria, and pick up the drug and try it themselves.  Those quacks probably got their MD's at Tijuana Tech.

It's one thing for the usual Trump apologists to try and keep on excusing and justifying their own stupidity...

But if Amerikan voters re-elect the empty-headed scamster Trump this year, after watching his pathetic efforts over recent weeks, they will only have themselves to blame for what follows..

The Republicans wanted to turn the whole relief package into a repeat of the December 2017 tax break: $2-trillion to corporations, with no strings attached.  They wanted a slush fund, through which the recipients could pay high executive salaries or corporate buy-outs.

When asked if there shouldn't be oversight on this slush fund, Trump responded: "I'll be the oversight".  Trump owns businesses and hotel/resort properties, so he would be one of the recipients.  Hmmm....

We should all remember that Trump has had his New York charitable trust revoked by the state for gross improprieties, and he is legally precluded from participating in a trust in New York state.

Why give him open access to a slush fund that amounts to the GDP of Belgium?

Romney is a prince compared to the scum in the WH.  Let me add, I'm quite proud of the LDS community for sticking to Republican values, but not going for the criminal trash that is Trump.  Unlike the racist southerners like Lindsey Graham and John Cornyn, the LDS don't compromise.  Seem they have backbone.

The US Senate finally did pass those bills yesterday. Unanimously (probably after a bit of 'wheeling and dealing' between the different factions..).

It's probably a reasonable 'assumption' that the little Repug' clique that was opposing extending unemployment benefits was "kicked to the kerb" by the more rational-thinking majority.
