Re: Donald Trump Vent Thread
The Bitchy Pundit
·
Someone asked "Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?"
Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England, wrote this magnificent response:
"A few things spring to mind.
Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem.
For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace - all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.
So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.
Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing - not once, ever.
I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility - for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman.
But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is - his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.
Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers.
And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults - he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.
There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface.
Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront.
Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul.
And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist.
Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that.
He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat.
He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully.
That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead.
There are unspoken rules to this stuff - the Queensberry rules of basic decency - and he breaks them all. He punches downwards - which a gentleman should, would, could never do - and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless - and he kicks them when they are down.
So the fact that a significant minority - perhaps a third - of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think 'Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
* Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
* You don't need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss.
After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.
God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid.
He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart.
In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws - he would make a Trump.
And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish:
'My God… what… have… I… created?
If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set."
Thanks Occupy Democrats

Did you forget about Guantanamo Bay, or did it escape your notice? Homestead, Fl? El Paso, Tx? Brownsville, Tx?
Jews are not the vogue today; Muslims and Hispanics are the favored internees these days.

Gassing is gassing. Concentration camps are not necessarily gashouses. We do, however, use waterboarding and other tortures in our concentration camps, as well as elsewhere.
They were originally: "used to hold and torture political opponents and union organizers, the camps initially held around 45,000 prisoners." Their use expanded to "Communists, Socialists, Social Democrats, Roma, Jehovah's Witnesses, homosexuals, and persons accused of 'asocial' or socially 'deviant' behavior." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_concentration_camps.
As I said, the only difference between Germany and America is that today we use them primarily for Muslims and Hispanics.

No answer, eh? I know how it feels. If you can't argue the facts, argue the law. If you can't argue the law, argue the facts. If you can't do either, pound the table and scream:
**Waffel**

Evangelical Leaders Ask Trump Which One Of Them Will Betray Him During Impeachment Proceedings
Trump and his disciples...

WASHINGTON, D.C.—At a Trump campaign fundraising supper Thursday night, the mood was somber. Trump had just informed everybody that he would soon be impeached but would be reinstated three days later.
He also dropped a bombshell on the evangelical leaders gathered to raise money for his campaign: that one of them would soon betray him.
"I know most of you are loyal," Trump said as the guests reclined after their meal. "Very loyal. You guys are the best. But one of you is going to betray me---believe me. Not good!"
His disciples stared at each other, not sure what Trump meant and wondering if maybe he had one too many Diet Cokes with his ice cream. But Pat Robertson whispered to Jerry Falwell, Jr, "Ask him who the snitch is. We can take care of snitches." So Jerry Falwell, Jr. leaned against Trump's chest and asked, "Mr. President, who is it?"
"Surely not I, Lord?" said a sobbing Falwell, Jr. The others all asked him one by one: "Surely not I?"
Tears forming in his eyes, Trump answered, "It is the one to whom I give this cup of covfefe." He then passed a cup of coffee over to Robert Jeffress. "What you are going to do, do quickly," Trump said, clearly in anguish in his body and soul, though again, it might have been the Diet Coke. "Just remember what we used to do to spies and snitches!"
Jeffress went out into the night to make a plea bargain with the FBI.

"Thanks to a quick-thinking guard, two would-be robbers were arrested at a at a Tucumcari, New Mexico bank as they attempted to rob it on Tuesday. They had used Sharpie marking pens to draw masks on their faces to disguise their identities. Interviewed Wednesday after their bail hearing, Floyd Rascombe and Dilbert Prince told the Tucumcari Bugle that they would be using what they called the “winning Trump strategy" for their defense. Asked to explain, Rascombe likened the pair's attempted robbery to the president claiming that there was no quid pro quo when he withheld defense funding for Ukraine until that government manufactured dirt on Joe Biden. “After a while, Mr. Trump gave them the money without getting the dirt,” he said. “We may have tried to rob the bank, but we never technically got any money. Like the president, we’re only guilty of ATTEMPTED quid pro quo.” "

Seriously, imagine how often we are going to hear that defense! Another scenario: how many terrorists, caught before their bombs detonated, are going to argue: no fulfillment, no crime? Trump and the Republicans have managed to legalize, and even make respectable, crime for all criminals.

Jerry Springer says Trump 'took my show and brought it to the White House'
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/jerry-springer-donald-trump-took-my-show-to-white-house-155016588.html
"Jerry Springer’s new daytime show, Judge Jerry, sees the famed talk show host preside over a courtroom where he rules on a range of legal disputes. To promote the show’s Monday premiere, Springer stopped by BUILD Series, where he delivered his blistering verdict on another notorious TV personality: Donald Trump.
“The thing that annoys me about Trump is that he took my show [The Jerry Springer Show] and brought it to the White House,” the 75-year-old said of today’s heated political climate and reality show-style antics. “I’m annoyed. I should get paid for that, shouldn’t I? Hey, get your own show!”
Springer, a former politician who briefly served as mayor of Cincinnati in addition to unsuccessful bids for Congress and the Senate, added that he’d “vote for a ham sandwich” over Trump.
The self-proclaimed “very liberal” TV star said he’s “satisfied” with the Democratic presidential candidates, singling out Sen. Kamala Harris in particular. The bigger issue, he noted, was for the Democratic Party to keep the focus on Trump’s weaknesses in 2020.
“From a pure political point of view, I think we have to be a little careful,” Springer said. “I think as long as Trump is the issue, the Democrats can win. But if we pick a candidate who all of a sudden takes the spotlight off of Trump and ‘is this person too far left?’ and suddenly the debate moves in that direction, then I think we could lose the election again.”
He added that, as an older man, however, it was time to let younger voters have more say in who governs.
And while his ‘90s talk show has been blamed for shining a spotlight on bad behavior and giving rise to the reality TV that dominates screens today, Springer insists that it’s not that simple.
“The culture has not changed, the behavior is the same,” he said. “A thousand years ago people gathered in the marketplace, in the town square, and they would all chat about what their neighbors were doing, who did what, what the gossip is, what the scandal is ... Everything that has ever been on my show is already in the Bible, is already in Shakespeare, is already in great literature. Everything.
“What has changed in the last 50, 60, 70 years is technology,” he continued. “With technology, the neighborhood has become the planet Earth. So we talk more about what the Kardashians are doing than the people down the block ... The behavior hasn’t changed. It’s just that we’re announcing it to the world.”"
