Thought this might be a fun game in which we try to stump one another.

What do the circular saw, the underwater telescope, windshield wipers, the COBOL computer language, and Kevlar have in common?

Or the inventor's identity is disputed in each case?

Tess is Right

The explanation is quite long, it is used in Physics quite a bit. it is an example on an irrational number. it is the key to modern string theory.

@bee
your formula is right for every number up to infinity, but not infinity itself. the trick is the proof relies on an irrational number

1-1+1-1+1-1+1...... = 1/2
IF you stop on an odd number you get 1 and stop at an even you get 0 so the average of the 2 is 1/2. (there is greater proof but irrational numbers are confusing)
