Colorado State president tells racists to pick another school in an epic apology for racist incident on admissions tour

The president of Colorado State University has just released an epic apology for the racist incident that happened during an admissions tour at the school this week. Two Native American teen, 19-year-old Thomas Kanewakeron Gray and 17-year-old Lloyd Skanahwati Gray, had scraped up money and traveled to tour their “dream school.” The mother of another student touring the school called the police on them because she was “nervous” that they were being quiet. The two teens were stopped and had their pockets searched by cops. They lost the tour and felt dejected, so they left.

Awww those poor lads. They were quiet cos it was a big adventure and they were nervous.

Give them free books & free equipment, and charge no fees in their first year. That would be a decent apology.

They were quiet because minorities in the US learn that to have an opinion, or ask any questions that might offend, will lead to them being singled out by the American police and have their pockets searched, be kicked in the head, or worse, get shot dead. That is what the black lives matter is all about?

I appreciate your sentiment HT, but some things are not all about money. I would give a RW'er books for life, if I were assured s/he would read them. You understand, it's more important for a reader to consume the ideas, than just collect books as chattel. That said, I appreciate your idea.

I've covered a couple events where there were a lot of Native kids coming to the big city for the first time. It's such a radically different life than on the reservation, most of them are totally awe-struck. Can't fault them for being a bit quiet.

For the British here, it'd be like a kid who grew up on a farm, that's all he knew, and then you brought him to the middle of London.

I am pretty sure they were mistaken for middle easterners. We give conflicting advice to people: call police if you spot anything suspicious, but we inevitably fail to define "suspicious". Suspicious, these days, would mean terrorism, which quite naturally, interprets to middle eastern.

People of color are never given the benefit of the doubt in America. If they are being loud and raucous, they are illiterate and ill-mannered--you know how they are--and thus shouldn't be allowed among civilized folks. If they are being quiet, they are probably are planning something ... and that's SUSPICIOUS!!

Now, for me, I find southerners to be raucous and suspicious...but to many others they are just Disneyland patrons. Laughing
