First topic message reminder :

Mrs AA and I were shopping in Boots the chemist. Passed 2 kids, lad and a girl, aged about 12, both tearing up, trying to decide which pregnancy testing kit to buy.

Hope for their futures it proves negative.

And hopefully he will put something on the end of it in future.

And perhaps, if someone stepped in at the height of their distress and fear and gave them some sound advice, they wouldn’t ever find themsleves buying another one.

I should think they can decide that for themselves.

I wouldn’t like to presume that and my above point is a better plan of action than to just hope, no?

If they were distressed at the idea of a pregnancy, I'm sure they'll be more careful in future.

How can you be more careful when even contraceptives are not a 100% proof against pregnancy?

If the view is in the hope people will learn by their mistakes and not then actually teach why they were mistakes. Its why we have this continual cycle of mistakes.

Expecting people to learn from mistakes, is clearly not enough, is it?

It depends on whether they are the type of children who learn from a near-miss humongous potential mistake.
As Syl said, let’s hope the test is negative.

No they wouldn’t listen to a lecture but they might listen to some kind words and a sense of not feeling too alone. There’s always a way to reach soneone.

you get to a certain age and any.one under 35 looks about 12. i've seen coppers and council workers that look like they're on work experience. they may well have been much older than that

just saying

i took my son down to one of these sexual health ''shops''. it was just some place in the high street that gave out advice but i told him to stock up with condoms

the bloke in there couldn't believe some 13 year old boy and come in there with his mum

he was a bit like,,,,say what?,,,,, Shocked

My next point on this and Rags failed argument. Which is not about meeting people, but its within the message they give.
Jesus gave a loved and fearful message. Many believe out of fear and love. A fear of eternal punishment and the love based on what Jesus did.

There are billions of Christians, none of which met him. Its the message that swayed them.

Hence what is the harm in Eddie approaching the children.

By doing nothing, nothing is achieved. If doing something, its the message that is important in swaying people. At least she will have tried and thus could make a difference.

Smart mother

And a point on beliefs.
I doubt for one second you wanted your son sleeping with anyone at that age. Though you knew this could be a distinct possibility. Thus you sought to ensure he would have safe sex, if he did end up sleeping with someone. You did not want to see your son or any girl ending up hurting or having to suffer. You are thus placing others over yourself. What Jesus taught.

I supplied my son with condoms when he got a girlfriend. I told him to use them every single time and if he ran out and got horny then they’d just have to satisfy each other in a different way.
He told me I was grossing him out but at least he got the message loud and clear: I ain’t looking after any child you may produce no way no how never. So if you want to take a risk then bye bye Freedom.

What kind words? The only way to help stop it happening again would be to advise them not to have sex or to use contraception. I'm just not sure it's appropriate to walk up to two kids and advise them not to have sex. They might think you're a weirdo. They must know what prompted the need for a pregnancy test the first time, and if it upset them, they're not likely to risk it again.

I don't like being pestered, especially when it's nothing to do with the subject. You did this to Vod and SM as well.

You see, playing the victim card again..

If you do not like being pestered, then you are in the wrong place, a debate forum.

All I see is you not facing up to your fears. Your fears being people challenging your beliefs.

I call that running away

Then again you are in the wrong place..

Do you think any real debate, must be stopped, because the opponent has the other on the ropes who then invokes badgering? In order to attempt a get out cluse due to their failings?

You give every excuse in the book for your failings here.

Nobody is forcing you to be here and yet you constantly invoke and claim you are a victim.

Tell me, what was so horrid and bad that I said to you on this thread?

I have never stalked women

I have no idea even if you are a woman..

All I can go by is your claim you are

So can you show me examples where I have stalked women?

I need evidence for your claim?

Odd, I thought I was actually challenging your claim.

Where is the evidence?

I mean its illegal to stalk in the UK.

I am in the UK, you claim you are, where is your report to the Police Rags?

Where is anyone backing your claim, that i am stalking you?

I am helping you address your claim Rags..

Have you contacted the Police with your claim?

Surely, this would be the best way to resolve your accusation?

If you think I am stalking you, then why have you not gone to the Police?

You claim, I am breaking the law

I would disagree on your outcome if they did make mistakes.
To me a parent never gives up on their children.
If they make mistakes, even the worst ones, its our duty to help them.
We cannot correct any wrongs they have done, but we can at least help them learn from them.
Disowning a child based on beliefs you hold, is the worst thing ever.

Well I know I never told him, or you, that I’d disown him. I told him that I’d not give up my life to raise his kid...help them/him out, sure. Look after a child full-time? Nope.

As a parent, we look after children full time and based off countless mistakes they make.
You are deciding not based off a mistake, but the morality of that mistake.
Is getting a girl pregnant comparable to homophobic prejudice beliefs?
It must be, when many homosexuals are disowned.
The thing you miss here is nobody is telling you to give up anything. Only whether you support them or not.
Disowning is drastic in the extreme in this instance
