Collapse in Christianity in Britain blamed on mothers by former bishop
Mothers have been blamed for the collapse in churchgoing in Britain by a former Church of England bishop.
Michael Nazir-Ali, the Bishop of Rochester from 1994 to 2009, told the Ukip conference of his sadness that "holy days have become holidays".
He told around 200 activists that this was in part because mothers stopped passing on their faith to their children at home. Mr Nazir-Ali told the activists: "There was a sudden death for Christian discourse in public life in this country around the 1960s."
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/09/29/collapse-christianity-britain-blamed-mothers-former-bishop/
His sadness?
That children are not having religion shoved down their throats and that parents are allowing their children freedom of thought?
There is no doubt Yesuha was a great teacher. Its a shame that Christians deified him and clearly failed to understand his teachings. Where many adopted the Pauline Christianity we see today.
This country may have adopted Christian-Judaeo beliefs, but it was enlightenment, secualarism and equality, that has shaped and made this country. To be, one of the best places to live. Not any poorly conceived absolute morals found in religion.
The fact that he blames women, shows how backward he is in thinking and how they are formed from the teachings of Paul. Which makes some Christians so utterly misogynistic. That they look to blame women for why people are turning away from Christianity. Its the original first sin bullshit all over again, in blaming women.
I mean its bad enough that Christianity is based more on the views of Paul, than it is of Yesuha. But to claim women are to blame for the Church of England's own failings. Says it all, how archaic some Christians are. Not even a view to blame fathers, but women, shows how sadly sexist the Church of England truly is.
Thank goodness that parents no matter whether male or female have allowed their children the freedom of thought to choose what they believe.

The fuckwit Smelly once again shows his inbred stupidity...
Aren't you aware that Christmas is a pre-Christian/Roman "holy" day taken over by Christianity (after all, Jesus was born in the northern Spring -- not in December); while Easter was a pagan fertility celebration, again commandeered by Christian churches (hence the Easter bunny distributing Easter Eggs..).
Once again, SmellyKlutz shoots himself in the foot.

You mean do I celebrate Mithras day smells?
No I certainly do not celebrate the fake birthday of Christ, that was adopted from the birthday of Mithras. In order to unite the Roman Empire.
Typical Christian, thinking this holiday was the actual birthday of some god.
Jesus was born in March smells, if you follow the scripture.
Maybe I should not celebrate the May bank holiday, as do you have a reason i should not, my little sheep friend?

so you're happy to take free leave for a religious Holiday you don't celebrate
you're like that black student who took a scholarship from Rhodes university and then demanded they tear down his statue

We have 8 bank holidays
All people no matter their ethnicity or faith have these days off
Are you suggesting I force my company to make me work, when they are closed over these days?
Where have I demanded that Christmas is cancelled?
Have you been watching Alan Rickman again as the Sheriff of Nottingham wanking off over this smells?
So what you are saying, being as most people are not religious, is that they should not celebrate giving presents to each other. I mean of course Santa was at the birth of Jesus was he not?

Being the prize hypocrite you are, SmellyWanker...
How many public holidays do you take off each year, even when you don't personally agree with the underlying reasons ???

But they have the choice to work and sign that contract do they not, as i already said?
Thus they know when signing that contract they could work bank holidays.
Thus, they have made an active choice have they not?

So they can't have that day off then. Well done - there's no need for you to keep trying to defend what you said - just admit that it was wrong. All people do not necessarily have bank holidays off - it's quite simple.

NO-ONE works a bank holiday, they just have a different day to everyone else
I'd like to get rid of te christian "holidays" and go back to the "old ones"
i mean a week statutory holiday for summer and winted solstice, a week long orgy on saturnalia
3 days for the equinox (s)
plus one day intween each celebration
(there are 8 celebratory days in the pagan wheel, the rest are for stuffing your face (and wenches) and getting pissed/stoned.

Re: Collapse in Christianity in Britain blamed on mothers by former bishop
The birth of Christmas
So if Christmas didn’t originate with Christ’s birth being on Dec. 25, when and how did it originate?Christmas began long before the birth of Jesus Christ. Alexander Hislop’s book The Two Babylons explores many historical sources showing that the holiday precedes Christ by at least 2,000 years, as earlier mentioned (1957, pp. 97-98).
A nativity celebration for pagan gods was observed near the winter solstice in both Syria and Egypt. Later, some 400 years before Christ, the Mithraic religion, centering on the Persian sun god Mithras, provided the foundation for the Christmas celebration. Mithraism became very popular in the Roman Empire, and many elements of its worship survive today in Roman Catholicism.
For example, the noted British anthropologist, historian and scholar Sir James Frazer, knighted for his contributions to our understanding of ancient religions, wrote in his book The Golden Bough:
“There can be no doubt that the Mithraic religion proved a formidable rival to Christianity, combining as it did a solemn ritual with aspirations after moral purity and a hope of immortality.
Indeed the issue of the conflict between the two faiths appears for a time to have hung in the balance. An instructive relic of the long struggle is preserved in our festival of Christmas, which the Church seems to have borrowed directly from its heathen rival .
“In the Julian calendar the twenty-fifth of December was reckoned the winter solstice, and it was regarded as the Nativity [birthday] of the Sun, because the day begins to lengthen and the power of the sun to increase from that turning-point of the year. The ritual of the nativity, as it appears to have been celebrated in Syria and Egypt, was remarkable. The celebrants retired into certain inner shrines, from which at midnight they issued with a loud cry, ‘The Virgin has brought forth! The light is waxing [stronger]!’
“The Egyptians even represented the new-born sun by the image of an infant which on his birthday, the winter solstice, they brought forth and exhibited to his worshippers. No doubt the Virgin who thus conceived and bore a son on the twenty-fifth of December was the great Oriental [i.e., Middle Eastern] goddess whom the Semites called the Heavenly Virgin or simply the Heavenly Goddess; in Semitic lands she was a form of Astarte [Easter]” (The Golden Bough, 1993, p. 358, emphasis added throughout)
If people insist on defending Christmas, at least they should know how it originated.

What do you mean no one works on a bank holiday?
By law, if you work a bank holiday (say xmas day) you are entitled to a day off at another time in lieu
