EMBATTLED White House press secretary Sean Spicer has resigned over the hiring of a new communications director.

Mr Spicer reportedly “vehemently disagreed” with US Fake President Trump offering New York financier Anthony Scaramucci the role of communications director.

He told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that the White House’s commuincations department had “too many cooks in the kitchen”.

I just thought it was in the best interest of our communications department, of our press organisation, to not have too many cooks in the kitchen,” Spicer told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in an interview hours after he resigned from the White House.

A complete load of bullshit.  Just another felon getting out of town before the scaffold is completed.

Spicer is known for his lies, but he hasn't yet been caught meeting with Russians. Evil or Very Mad

Actually, the people's vote was against Trump.  The Electoral College placed Trump in office.  That is a group of predominately old, white males.

The American presidential contest is not a democracy.  The general election is advisory only.  The EC meets after the popular election and selects the candidate they want.  They often defy the popular choice. Two of the three presidents that have been appointed in the 21st-century have actually lost the general election: Bush, in 2000; and Trump in 2016.

Despite the fables and myths about America being the first democracy, actually France was the first democracy.  America did not adopt democratic principles until well after the founding.  The House of Representatives was originally only elected by property holders., but left to all landed-citizens.  The Senate was originally chosen by the various state legislatures.  And the president, as noted, was instated by the EC, a committee of predominately white males.

Are you suggesting that the Electoral College voted against the majority of voters?

But what if Trump was complicit in Russia undermining the US election?

So it does not matter whether he was voted in or not, if he then is found guilty of breaking the law.

He is at present conferring with his lawyers, whether a president can pardon himself and his family.

Maybe you can explain to me why an innocent President would even need to consult his lawyers on that?

Yes, of course.  Are you just learning this?

Donald Trump lost the election to Clinton by a marginal difference of 3-million votes, and lost the entire election (all candidates including Clinton) by a marginal difference of 10-million votes.  Two of the three presidents of this century have lost, but were instated by the Electoral College.

Not quite. They are discovering--and I have always believed--that the Russians actually hacked into the voting machines and altered the votes themselves. You have had your credit cards stolen...your bank accounts broken into. Who among us are ignorant enough to believe it isn't possible to play the voting machine?

Although true, it is improbable that the the relevant authorities will ever make this public. It is one of those truths that, while adverse, if brought to light would perpetuate the loss of confidence in American constitutional procedures...the goal of the Russians in the first place.

Tommy Monk wrote:If fact, the only ones trying to influence voters with talk of Russia were democrats, who were saying 'dont vote for Trump cos thats what Putin wants you to do!'... which was nonsense then and has evolved into the nonsense about Russia now!!!

And there you have the perfect afterthought, by which deniers (and the Russians) cover their tracks. It's perfect, because it further undermines confidence in American constitutional principles...the [i]opposition party/i] is faulted for being and saying things the opposition party is supposed to do: oppose.

The Standard wrote:The Election Came Down to 77,744 Votes in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan (Updated)

A closer look at the three states that decided the winner in 2016.
3:13 PM, NOV 10, 2016 | By JOHN MCCORMACK

Donald Trump owes his victory in the Electoral College to three states he won by the smallest number of votes: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. So it's fair to say that the 2016 presidential election was decided by about 77,000 votes out of than 136 million ballots cast. According to the final tallies, Trump won Pennsylvania by 0.7 percentage points (44,292 votes), Wisconsin by 0.7 points (22,748 votes), Michigan by 0.2 points (10,704 votes). If Clinton had won all three states, she would have won the Electoral College 278 to 260. She fell short in all three, of course, and that's why we are now getting accustomed to the reality of President-elect Donald J. Trump. (This article has been updated to reflect final results.)

Trump's victory in these three states was a big shift from 2012, when Obama won Michigan by 9.5 points, Wisconsin by 6.7 points, and Pennsylvania by 5.2 points. Although the national vote swung only about 3 points toward GOP in 2016 (leaving Hillary Clinton as the narrow winner of the popular vote), these three states swung by 6 to 10 points toward the Republican presidential nominee.

So what accounts for the swing? A close look at the exit polls reveals a slightly different story in each state, but most of the change is due to the fact that Clinton performed much worse than Obama did among middle- and low-income voters.

In Pennsylvania, overall turnout was up from 2012 (from 5.6 million to 6 million), but the racial composition of the electorate was significantly different. Clinton won 92 percent of African-Americans and Obama won 93 percent of African-Americans. But in 2012, black voters made up 13 percent of the electorate; in 2016, they comprised just 10 percent of the electorate.

In terms of raw votes, that means roughly 130,000 fewer African-Americans voted in Pennsylvania in 2016 than voted in 2012. If those voters had shown up on Tuesday, that alone would've been enough for Clinton to hold Pennsylvania by a razor-thin margin.

Clinton lost white voters by 16 points (40 percent to 56 percent); in 2012, Obama lost white Pennsylvania voters by 15 points (42 percent to 57 percent). But white voters accounted for 81 percent of of the 2016 electorate and 78 percent of the 2012 electorate.

The big shift in Pennsylvania occurred among to lower- and middle-income voters. Among those earning less than $50,000, Clinton won by 12 points (54 percent to 42 percent); in 2012, Obama won this group by 36 points (67 percent to 31 percent). Clinton and Obama won the same percentage of voters earning between $50,000 and $100,000 (41 percent) and the same percentage of those earning more than $100,000 (45 percent).

In Wisconsin, turnout was down slightly (from 3.06 million in 2012 to 2.95 million in 2016), but the racial composition of the electorate was the same, according to the exit polls: 86 percent white, 7 percent black, and 4 percent Latino.

In the last two presidential elections in Wisconsin, the Democrat won almost the same percentage of black voters (94 percent in 2012 and 92 percent in 2016). But Clinton lost white Wisconsin voters by 11 points (42 percent to 53 percent), whereas Obama lost white voters by only 3 points in 2012 (48 to 51).

The biggest swing was among voters earning less than $50,000. Clinton won that group by 4 points (49 percent to 45 percent); Obama won that group by 25 points (62 percent to 37 percent). Clinton lost those earning $50,000 to $100,000 by 6 points, but Obama lost them by just 1 point.

There was also a big swing among Wisconsin voters earning $100,000 or more: Clinton edged out Trump among this group by 2 points (48 percent to 46 percent), but Obama lost that group by 20 points in 2012 (39 percent to 59 percent).

In Michigan, turnout was only up slightly (from 4.72 million to 4.79 million ballots cast). The white share of the electorate shrunk from 77 percent to 75 percent, while the black share was down from 16 percent to 15 percent, and the Latino share was up from 3 percent to 5 percent. Obama and Clinton won close to the same percentage of minority voters, but Clinton lost white voters by 21 points; Obama lost them by 11 points.

The big shift, again, came among voters earning less than $50,000. (Median household income is $49,000 in Michigan and about $53,000 in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania).

Clinton won Michiganders earning less than $50,000 by 11 points (53 percent to 42 percent); Obama won them 26 points (62 to 36 percent). Obama lost those earning $50,000 to $100,000 by 1 point (49 percent to 50 percent); Clinton lost them by 8 points (43 percent to 51 percent). Among those earning $100,000 or more, Clinton lost by 8 points (43 percent to 51 percent); Obama lost them by 4 points (48 percent to 52 percent).

As the election results sink in, anyone who wants to attribute Trump's victory to racism will need to account for the fact that it was white Obama voters who provided Trump with his margin of victory in the three states that decided the election.

He won the popular vote in all those states, so the electoral college did not vote against the majority of voters.

US News and World Report wrote:Clinton Wins Popular Vote by Nearly 3 Million Ballots

The final vote tally is embarrassing for President-elect Donald Trump.

By Kenneth T. Walsh, Contributor | Dec. 21, 2016, at 7:34 a.m.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton defeated Republican candidate Donald Trump in the popular vote by nearly three million ballots, according to the final count.

This margin won't change the fact that Trump will become president on Jan. 20. He won a clear majority of 304 electoral votes, as certified this week, while Clinton received only 227, and the electoral vote determines the winner.

President-Elect Donald Trump looks on in Des Moines, Iowa on Dec. 8, 2016 during the USA Thank You Tour 2016 at the Hy-Vee Hall in the Iowa Events Center.

Electoral College Votes Trump

But the sheer margin of Clinton's popular-vote victory is sure to intensify Democratic arguments that Trump has no mandate and really isn't the president preferred by most Americans.

The nonpartisan Cook Political Report found that Clinton received 65,844,610 votes or 48.2 percent and Trump received 62,979,636 or 46.1 percent: a difference of 2,864,974. There were also 7,804,213 votes or 5.7 percent for other candidates.

Trump's percentage of the popular vote was the third worst among winning candidates since 1824, when the popular vote was first officially recorded, according to the New York Times.

Trump has said that if he had focused on the popular vote he would have campaigned differently to run up his totals in areas where he had strong support. Instead, he focused on swing states that decided the outcome in the Electoral College.

Exxon Mobil chairman and CEO Rex Tillerson speaks at a discussion organized by the Economic Club of Washington on March 12, 2015, in Washington, D.C.

Former President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton's husband, tried to minimize Trump's win in a conversation with shoppers at a bookstore near their home in Chappaqua, N.Y., recently. Trump "doesn't know much," Clinton said. "One thing he does know is how to get angry, white men to vote for him."

Clinton said Trump's electoral-vote margin was not a landslide, as Trump has claimed. "Landslide? I got something like 370 electoral votes" in 1992, Clinton said. "That was a landslide."

Trump fired back in a tweet on Tuesday. He mocked Hillary Clinton's campaign for failing to concentrate on the swing states. "They focused on [the] wrong states," Trump wrote.

Um - that's how an election is won - by winning. You were wrong about the electoral college.

You claimed that the electoral college voted against the majority of voters in particular areas, and that's not true. Why don't you just admit it rather than behave in a childish manner?

But what if Trump was complicit in Russia undermining the US election?

So it does not matter whether he was voted in or not, if he then is found guilty of breaking the law.

He is at present conferring with his lawyers, whether a president can pardon himself and his family.

Maybe you can explain to me why an innocent President would even need to consult his lawyers on that?

What lies?

President Trump is considering pardoning himself. I asked 15 experts if that's legal.

Donald Trump asks lawyers about powers to pardon himself and his children in Russia probe, report reveals

So why would someone innocent, need to pardon themselves?

I know, right? He doesn't even know that Trump lost the popular vote. But, tommy is tommy. I'm much more surprised that Raggs is not caught up on this.

It's expected that Brits stay more in tune with British politics, but what with all the craziness going on in Washington in the past 6-months, you'd think they might hear something now and then. We've had several threads on the electoral college, and how it usurps democracy in the US. Evil or Very Mad
