Like many parents, I’m forever searching for ways to entertain my children – especially at this time of year, when the school holidays loom. I know that visits to our local playground won’t be enough to get us through the long summer days. So, I was pretty pleased when I hit on the idea of helping my five-year-old daughter to run a lemonade stand at the end of our street.

Miserable sods.....is it just me or does a £1 sound a bit steep though? Laughing

When we were little we used to do stuff like this and take the money to the local RSPCA who had treated our cats for free a couple of times.
No one stopped us, we would even get a certificate from them thanking us with the amount collected.

Sad that kids cant be enterprising like this anymore.

The teenager who dropped a balloon on the street

In 2008, 16-year-old Max Twizell was given a £50 litter fine after inflating a helium-filled balloon at a charity event in Newcastle and letting it go. Because he hadn't tied the end, the balloon spiralled away and fell to the ground, littering the pavement.
His mother Lorraine said the penalty was "excessive" but a spokesman for Newcastle City Council said at the time that it would take firm action against littering.

The mum fined £75 for dropping a piece of sausage roll

Also in 2008, 20-year-old Sarah Davies was fined £75 by council officials in Hull after she dropped a "bite-sized" sausage roll while giving it to her daughter Chloe, aged four, in the city centre.
The young mother said the sausage roll was eaten by pigeons after it fell to the floor, but council officers said she had intentionally littered. The case was taken to court, but later dismissed.

The grieving widower fined £160 for not leaving his wife's funeral

In 2015, grieving widower Frank Blades was charged £160 for standing for too long at his wife's grave after her burial.

The pensioner was told there was "no rush" to leave the cemetery and spent 20 minutes there after the burial.
But when Mr Blades received the bill for his late wife's funeral from Hopkinsons Funeral Directors, he was shocked to notice a £160 charge on top of his £6,000 burial fee.
The local council confirmed the fee had been implemented due to their gravediggers working beyond their contracted hours, but that it was Hopkinsons Funeral Directors who had been charged and who passed the fee onto Mr Blades.

Café owner fined £100 for leaving plotted plant on the pavement

A Shoreditch café owner was hit with a "ridiculous" £100 fine when she left a small bay tree on the pavement opposite her store.
Danni Orsi, 27, was shocked when Tower Hamlets council officials slapped her with the penalty because of her “wilful obstruction of the highway” and having an item outside without “authority or a licence”.
Ms Orsi said the potted plant was a gift from her mother and was placed outside an off-licence opposite with a signpost to direct customers to her shop across the road.

The grandmother fined for dropping a piece of thread

In 2012, a 71-year-old grandmother was handed a £75 fine by council officials in south Wales because she had accidentally dropped a curled-up strand of cotton that had come loose from her glove.

The fine for "littering" was handed out to Valerie George by the local council, but after carrying out an investigation, they later said the charge would be dropped.

The retired civil servant fined for pouring coffee down the drain

A retired civil servant from Ealing was fined £80 by council officials earlier this year after she poured coffee down a drain in the street.
Soon after purchasing the hot drink in a café she poured the liquid down the public to get rid of it before a meeting. She then went to a bin to dispose of the paper cup.

But an enforcement officer who had seen Sue Peckitt, fined her after citing that it was illegal to put coffee down a drain in public place. Ms Peckitt paid the fine to avoid a criminal record, but after going to a local paper the council later handed her money back.
Andrew Wiseman, a partner at Harrison Grant, a specialist environmental law firm, said that pouring coffee down the drain could be seen as a breach of environmental laws designed to ban the introduction of any “poisonous, noxious or polluting matter” to the drainage system, but added that it was "absolutely ludicrous" for the council to consider pouring coffee down the drain as an offence.

And ...you know whats the common thread between them all

Every one of those councils is......LEFTY My five-year-old daughter was fined £150 ... for selling lemonade 3489511464 My five-year-old daughter was fined £150 ... for selling lemonade 3489511464 My five-year-old daughter was fined £150 ... for selling lemonade 3489511464

This is perhaps THE problem with leftyism...waayyyyy too much pokeing and pissing with trivia, by jobsworths with only ordinary peoples misery in mind.....and it infests central govt under labour too..... thay are like Janus....one face wants (unrealistically) to make everyone happy (presumably by the doctrine of shared misery) and the other wants to regulate you out of existence....
