A 36-year-old matador has been killed by a bull in France after tripping on his cape and being impaled by a horn.
Prize bullfighter Ivan Fandino, who had been a professional for 12 years, died in hospital after suffering from a punctured lung yesterday.
The Spaniard, from the Basque region, leaves behind a wife and daughter after his death in the bullring at Mont-de-Marsan, France.
'It's a tragedy,' said a shocked colleague. 'We just do not know how it could have happened.'

Really? It's called karma. I never knew they had bullfights in France. Even more reason to disrespect them.

Another heartening story, if you can call it that after 58 years of cruelty.

Half a century in shackles. Gajraj - meaning ‘king’ or ‘big boy’ elephant - is 70 to 75 years old.
He was captured from the wild as a calf, beaten into submission, and has been chained, in one spot, at the Yami Devi Hindu temple in Aundh, Maharashtra, India, for nearly 58 years. Yesterday, (Saturday) having never committed a crime, he was finally free from his terrible sentence.
Injured, partially blind, with foot abscesses, his tusks hacked off to protect the mahouts who abused him daily, frail from decades of poor food, lack of hydration or movement, he was abandoned to die, still chained by all four legs, until Wildlife SOS, aided by funds from Peta, launched a rescue mission.

So called "bull fighting" is neither sport, nor is it genuine "fighting"..

Only minimally competitive. But typical of Spanish...grace, vanity and full of pageantry.

Seems to be little sympathy for the matador on here...none from me either.
