Housemates Ignored Screams Of Dying Girl

MILL HILL; FINCHLEY Neighbours ignored a young woman crying for help as she was murdered by her lover, the Old Bailey heard today (MON). Alexandra Kovacs, 25, was heard screaming in her bedroom but none of her housemates went to her assistance, jurors were told. She was only reported missing two days later and it was another day before police recovered her body in a suitcase dumped in a north London park. Fellow Hungarian Laszlo Gyarmati, 29, now admits killing Miss Kovacs but denies he intended to cause her serious harm.

We get a lot of these things in NYC, Chicago, etc.--proving that the social mores of urban living are confusing, at best. A screaming woman generally means a drunken couple arguing. Who wants to get involved in that?
A shame what happened. But if you intervene, you'll probably be the one arrested for breaking and entering or trespass.

Good point - and it usually is a drunken couple arguing.

Not to mention that the victim often turns on you when you try to get involved when it's drunken arguing/fighting.
