Widespread rainfall totals are expected to reach 3 to 6 inches with some locations potentially seeing 7 to 9 inches, according to KENS5 in San Antonio.
The National Weather Service has placed much of Texas under a flash flood watch. This includes the metro areas of Dallas-Ft. Worth, Austin and San Antonio.
Most of the deaths took place in rural Washington County, Texas, between Austin and Houston, where more than 16.5 inches of rain fell in some places late last week, the Associated Press reported.
With heavy rain continuing and one river forecast to crest at a record high level, Texas will expect little relief on Wednesday from flooding that claimed seven lives over the holiday weekend.
Rounds of heavy thunderstorms will raise the risk of flooding across the south-central U.S. into Friday, AccuWeather said.
The heaviest storms are expected to impact Oklahoma and central and western Texas through Wednesday night, before shifting into eastern Texas, including Houston, by Thursday.
The Brazos River, which runs from New Mexico to the Gulf of Mexico, was forecast to crest at 53.8 feet late Tuesday in Richmond, Texas, the National Weather Service said. That's three feet higher than the previous record, set during flooding in 1994.
Authorities in Richmond's Fort Bend County, southwest of Houston, rescued at least 40 people over the weekend from floodwaters there.

In Rosenberg, Texas, the rising water carried water moccasin snakes, ants and debris into neighborhoods of houses and businesses. The water surrounded Javier Antunez's home on Monday evening and showed no sign of receding, , KHOU-TV reported

Not too bad where I am, but there are low-lying areas that are getting hit pretty bad. I heard on the radio that one of the nearby freeways was hit with a mudslide!

Floods seem to be draining down the Brazos River, on down to south of Houston.

Unbelievable - in a training mission and this happens! Good Grief! Evil or Very Mad
5 soldiers dead, 4 missing from flooded Fort Hood vehicle
Last Updated Jun 2, 2016 11:14 PM EDT
FORT HOOD, Texas -- Five soldiers who were in an Army truck that overturned at a low water crossing near Lake Belton died Thursday, three were rescued and a search is still underway for four others, Fort Hood said early Thursday evening, CBS affiliate KWTX reported.

There's no relief in sight for parts of Texas swamped by devastating floods. At least eight people have drowned, and more than 1,000 have been fo...

The base said in a statement that three bodies were initially recovered downstream from the vehicle. Another statement late Thursday night said an additional two victims had been found.
The search is ongoing for four soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, the press release said.
Three soldiers were rescued from the water near the vehicle and are in stable condition being transported from Coryell Memorial Healthcare System, Gatesville, Texas, to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

"The 1st Cavalry Division is grieving after a training accident at Fort Hood during flash flooding this morning," the division's commander, Maj. Gen. John C. Thomson III, said in a statement posted on Facebook.
Rescue crews responded at around 11:20 a.m. Thursday after the light medium tactical vehicle overturned at the Owl Creek Tactical low-water crossing and East Range Road, KWTX reported.
Multiple resources from the Fort Hood Directorate of Emergency Services, local and state agencies have been deployed to assist with the rescue and recovery of personnel and property, Fort Hood said. Emergency operations include aircraft, canine search teams, heavy-ground equipment, swift-water rescue watercraft and search personnel.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the soldiers, their families and the Fort Hood community, and continue to be with those still unaccounted for," said Texas Governor Greg Abbott in a statement. "Texas stands ready to provide any assistance to Fort Hood as they deal with this tragedy. The brave men and women stationed at Fort Hood and across our country put their lives on the line every day, and be it through rescue operations or on the battlefield, Texas will forever remain grateful for their sacrifices."

TEXAS - How Bad Is The Flooding Down There? Empty 4 missing soldiers found - DEAD = 9 total died in that training mission

Post by Guest Sat Jun 04, 2016 1:59 pm

Army aircraft, dogs and rescue watercraft on Friday were searching a 20-mile creek that winds through heavily wooded terrain at Fort Hood Army Base in Texas looking for four soldiers missing a day after their light vehicle overturned in fast-rising floodwaters, killing five soldiers.
On Friday night, the bodies of the four missing soldiers who were swept away in the creek were found, the Associated Press reported.
"This accident is a tragedy — the loss of one soldier is too many," said Fort Hood spokesman Chris Haug said Friday.Three soldiers who were plucked from the swift floodwaters on Thursday were in stable condition, according to officials at the military facility in Killeen, in central Texas. Three of the dead were found shortly after the accident and two more bodies were found Thursday night.

I'd hope that the 'man in charge' of this MISSION gets demoted - gets his arse kicked in front of the entire Fort Hood Camp and sets the example of what 'STUPID' planning will earn you when you put human life in jeopardy and you are one clueless stupid human! Evil or Very Mad

I'm not well versed in MILITARY JUSTICE; but isn't there something about 'negligent homicide' = court marshaled justice and they would serve time at Ft Leavenworth?

How absurd/thought less/morally irresponsible to send a light weight vehicle - filled with military dressed men {sans life preservers} into a flooded area with rapidly moving water and have 9 military personnel DIE!
