An elderly crane driver blocked his toilet as he tried to flush away pieces of his wife’s head, a court heard.

Dempsey Nibbs, 69, decapitated his partner of 30 years Judith, 60, with a kitchen knife after she boasted of sex with other men and flashed her breasts on Skype, jurors have heard.

He broke up her severed head with a mallet and a metal bar before disposing of the pieces in the toilet in the flat they shared in Hoxton, London.

Nibbs, who worked for Balfour Beatty, called the police and was arrested as he stabbed himself repeatedly following the incident in 2014.

The body of Ms Nibbs, who worked for Meals on Wheels, was lying in the hallway with tarpaulin covering her shoulders.

Nibbs admits killing the mother of his two children between 9 and 12 April 2014 but claims he acted in self-defence during a struggle.

He later said he was ‘out of his mind’ believing Ms Nibbs, who lived with him as his wife despite never marrying, was 'a snake and that he needed to cut her head off'.

The horrific details of the police investigation today emerged as DC Mark Regan was called to give evidence at Nibbs’ Old Bailey murder trial.

Jurors were shown the black-handled knife and mallet believed to have been used in the killing.

DC Regan said he arrived at the flat on the morning of 11 April and noticed the toilet would not flush, indicating a blockage in the system.

‘A number of body parts and in particular pieces of skull were retrieved from the lavatory and brain matter and other body tissue from the head,' prosecutor Crispin Aylett explained.

A post mortem revealed Ms Nibbs may have been still alive, although probably unconscious, when she was decapitated, the court was told.

WTF??? Just kick her out, divorce her or walk away.....why kill her and decapitate her?

Bit drastic.....

The next village along from my Dad was a pub that has been rebuilt recently as flats.   The owner of the pub killed his partner and kept her in a freezer for about 6 months, told everyone she had left him.   Nobody wanted to buy the pub after his conviction - I wonder why.

Ugh. I hate stories like that. How do you kill someone and then keep their dead body in your freezer? Or chop up their head into tiny pieces and flush it down the loo?

It's sick.
