A 14-year-old schoolgirl has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a classmate in the chest.
The incident, which occured on Monday at Petersfield School, Petersfield, Hampshire, left an unnamed 15-year-old girl requiring hospital treatment. Police were called to the scene shortly after 9.30 am on Monday morning, just after registration.
The 15-year-old victim was taken to hospital and treated for a minor chest injury and is today recovering at home.
The arrested girl cannot be named for legal reasons.
She has been charged with attempted murder and one count of threatening a person with a blade on school premises. She appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court this morning.
