Bernie Sanders’ interns get PAID

According to The Washington Post Bernie Sanders actually walks the walk when he talks about economic equality.
Sanders is the only presidential candidate who pays his interns.
Sanders’ interns on the campaign get paid $10.10 per hour.
Throughout his campaign, Sanders has taken a strong stance against student debt and has recognized it as a serious issue threatening the future of America.

“We should not be punishing people and forcing them to live under real economic strain for decades because of the crime of getting an education,” Sanders said this week. “We’re the wealthiest country in the history in the world, people should not be $150,000 in debt for wanting to get an education.”

Sanders proposed over the summer a plan where he would tap into the economic success of Wall Street to finance the future of the United States.

“At a time of massive income and wealth inequality, at a time when trillions of dollars in wealth have been shifted from the middle class and working families of this country to the top one-tenth of one percent, at a time when the wealthiest people in this country have made huge amounts of money from risky derivative transactions and the soaring value of the stock market, this legislation would impose a speculation fee on Wall Street investment houses and hedge funds,” he said.

Seven out of 10 students face an average of $29, 000 in debt when they graduate from college. They are expected to start paying that debt back, but they also need to get practical work experience for their future career. Experience such as that offered by internships which are often un-paid.
In this way, un-paid internships are tipped in the favor of youth from wealthy families.
