Nah...it's Keely Smith, who was married to Louis Prima, and recorded Sunday Kind of Love, which Prima co-wrote with Barbara Belle.

Good guess. Same type look.
Nah, tho...it's Michelle Phillips, of the Mommas and Poppas, a LA singing quartet back in the 1960's. They wrote and sang California Dreaming and Monday, Monday, among others.

Ahhh I see it now OQ.
When I was a girl I thought she was lovely, stood next to Mama Cass (who had the best voice by far) she always looked gorgeous.

Re: Who Is This
No doubt when the above picture was taken she was Michelle Gilliam, and lived in Long Beach.
Back in those days I was a studio guitarist in LA for the recording companies. At one point I had a big crush on her--she was gonna be my future baby mama--but she was waaaay out of my league...a part of the drugs and sex culture of Hollywood, and I just didn't make it into that group. John Phillips, who wrote and arranged most of their stuff, died in London of a heroin overdose. Of the four, only Michelle survives and lives in Cheviot Hills, LA.
Cass and Denny (tenor) were the best voices in that group. You can hear them en duet in "Twelve-Thirty (Young girls who come into the canyon...)", where they weave some beautiful contrary harmony. Michelle's is the little girl voice you can hear in the background in the chorus.

It's alarming when you realise how many of the stars of that era have died, and some of them so young.
They were very popular in GB......their sound was one of the ones that summed up the 60's.

Re: Who Is This
*SIGH*...lost love. Ah-well, she was married.
John Phillips wrote and produced a recording by Scott McKenzie, called If You're Goin' to San Francisco.... He was with the Journeymen back then, and I toured Canada with them for several weeks. Loads of fun with wine and guitars, 3 am in hotel rooms, until the neighbors called the desk to complain.

Re: Who Is This
Scott Mckenzie was the image of a lad I was going out with at the time.
I only saw a couple of pics of him, (no internet in those days) and desperately tried to find new pics because I thought he was gorgeous at the time.
That song (the only one of his that made it here) is still played on the radio.

Yeah, it was the theme song for the San Francisco sound...Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, Carlos Santana: "you'd better wear some flowers in your hair...".
John Phillips and his group were playing at the 'hungry i' then, and although he and Michelle were technically LA-oriented, he wrote and produced it while in San Francisco. So it forever became associated with the San Francisco sound.
Memories...
