Gaza and West Bank under attack - again. Empty Gaza and West Bank under attack - again.

Post by Guest Sun Sep 20, 2015 8:53 pm

Sinn Féin MEP & chair of the European Delegation for relations with Palestine, has condemned a series of attacks on Palestine in recent hours.

Speaking ahead of her visit to Jordan, Ms Anderson said,
"Palestine has been attacked from several directions in recent hours.

"In Jerusalem, Israeli authorities are continuing to prevent Palestinian worshippers from entering the Al-Aqsa mosque compound. Several dozen people have been wounded after a week of restrictions and demonstrations. This figure is set to rise as Israeli authorities have sent in hundreds of troops and police officers to reinforce their already swollen ranks. Preventing access for worshippers is a denial of the fundamental rights to dignity and expression. Israeli authorities must step back and allow safe and unrestricted access to all holy sites.

"Legitimate protests held in the West Bank to protest the ongoing siege of the Al-Aqsa mosque  were met with a typically heavy-handed Israeli response, with Red Crescent representatives stating that seven Palestinians have been wounded by live Israeli fire. This is an alarming development in the week that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared his intention to fast-track legislation that would allow occupation forces to fire on stone-throwers.

"On top of this, Israel has launched several bombing missions on the densely populated and besieged Gaza Strip. The infrastructure of Gaza was obliterated by the Israeli onslaught last summer and further bombing campaigns will only exacerbate an already horrific humanitarian situation there.

"To add to Gazan woes, Egyptian authorities have this week begun to flood tunnels leading out of Gaza. These tunnels are used by the people of Gaza to attain essential supplies such as medical equipment and medicines. They are a tiny lifeline for the millions of people living under siege.

"Israeli and Egyptian authorities are stepping up their attacks on Gaza in the wake of a UN report that states Gaza could be 'uninhabitable by 2020'. The report goes on to state that Israeli military action and economic blockade have rendered the coastal strip unfit for civilian life. Indeed the EU Ambassador to Israel only last week told a meeting of EU delegations that the economy in Gaza was 'dead'.

"All these aggressive actions are contributing to a increase in already high tensions on the ground in Palestine. The disregard for human life being shown by Israeli and Egyptian authorities is shocking. All parties involved should do what is possible to deescalate tensions and all military operations against the improvised, deprived and beleaguered people of Gaza should stop immediately."

If there is a Hell, it's waiting with open arms for Netanyahu.

Lol this coming from Sinn A,K,A IRA scum Fein.

Anyway, I love how the extreme left always tell the most biased one sided story.

First the attacks in Gaza:

The Israeli Air Force struck two Hamas training camps in Gaza in response to a pair of rockets fired at southern Israel. One rocket landed in Sderot, damaging a house and a bus parked nearby but caused no injuries. The second rocket was intercepted by Iron Dome. More at Reuters.

So to the clashes on the temple mount where time and time again it is the most daftest and bigoted prejudice coming from Palestinian youths constantly attacking Israeli;s tourists and Police with rocks, petrol bombs who vist the what is to Jews their most Holiest site. You have many youths being used and orctestrated by fatah/PLO groups to incite trouble on the Temple Mount. There would be no need to deny any worshippers to Al-Aqsa mosque, but sadly there is when these youths are using the Mosque, as a base to unleash unwarranted attacks on worshippers. This goes all the way up to the Palestinian authorities with Fatah who are deliberately inciting trouble over the Temple Mount. Again stupid religion being the reason for this violence over who has rights over who controls what piece of rock to pray to an imaginary deity. Besides the idiotic reasons these clashes happen over daft religious beleifs, we have to respect the fact worshippers should not be denied a right of worship no matter, whether Muslim, Christian or Jew. So blame squarely falls on the Fatah authorities incitinng youths to attack tourists, worshippers etc, when a place of worship should be accessable to anyone, it is after all just another bloody building. So if there was nbo such attacks and these youths were not using the Mosque to store wepaons and attack people with, no such clashes would happen and nobody would be deniede access to the Mosque.

They have even found pipe bombs being stored there, yep bombs in a place of worship which really just shows how those doing so care very little about the Mosque at all. They are bringing the fight to the Mosque  by using this as their base. So do I have sympathy for the Muslims that do want to pray at the Mosque? Yes, but they need to condemn the youths who by their violence have created needs for secutity measures to be put in place. So there is no defense for what these youths are doing. It is born from a selfish belief over access or allowing peoplke of a different faithhhh to pray new this.

To put this more into perspective that this problem is over religious stupidity, you can tell by the numbers of visitors to the area:

Worth reading: YNet‘s Nahum Barnea visits the Temple Mount, where he has enlightening conversations with a sheikh and a police commander.
• I’m glad to see
AFP[/color] provide some figures on the number of Jews who visited the Temple Mount, giving the controversy a little more perspective.
[/i]
About 10,900 Jews visited the flashpoint hilltop in 2014, according to Arnon Segal, an activist for the right of Jews to pray where their biblical temples are said to have stood.

In contrast, as many as nearly three million Muslims and 200,000 Christians go there each year, according to official Israeli data.

The number of Jewish visitors last year was double the figure of 2009, says Segal.

So we see what causes all this is nothing more than prejudiced discrimination against Jewish worshippers to the area. I mean seriously talk about making a mockery of the claim to being a religion of peace when they are activelly using a place of worship to coordinate violence from?

There are many reports people can read and make up their own minds up on this, but to me the cause is Fatah plain and simple::

Palestinians clashed with Israeli police on the Temple Mount for three days. Shortly before Rosh HaShanah, the new year’s day on the Jewish calendar, police received intelligence that Palestinians were preparing piles of stones and barricades in the Al-Aqsa Mosque to cause violence over the holiday. CNN
writes:

Israeli officers said that “rioters” hurled rocks and fireworks at them in an attempt to keep them at bay, but the confrontation spilled from inside out onto the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem, where it went on for hours.

The weekend after Rosh Hashanah was marred by violence in Israel, with riots in the Shuafat refugee camp and in the At-Tur and Issawiya neighborhoods, Molotov cocktails that wounded border police fighters in Jabel Mukaber, Palestinians wounded and arrested, another attack on the Jerusalem light rail, and rocket fire in the south. This is a still incomplete litany of the violent incidents that rocked Israel this weekend (Friday and Saturday).  Tensions continued to boil over on Saturday, following a particularly explosive day on Friday. Shortly after 10:30pm, a Code Red siren was heard in numerous communities adjacent to Gaza, but it soon turned out that while a rocket had been fired, it did not reach Israeli territory.

That same evening at 10:08pm, rocks were thrown at vehicles on the road between Jerusalem and Gush Etzion. No one was hurt.

And at 10:45, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a guard tower at an IDF base in Binyamin, causing a brush fire. Two firefighting teams were sent to the scene. While these attempted to put out the fire, they were pelted with stone and a firebomb that exploded nearby. Troops responded with riot dispersal methods.

I seriously believe that the best thing that could happen is that  massive sink hole opens up on the temple mount, so that these places of worship get swallowed up in the ground. Nothing left then to fight over.

Of course the propaganda machine went into full force, Israel forgot to mention that the rockets fired on them were done by a group loyal to ISIS and claimed by them, the ISIS that Hamas is trying to fight but is gaining ground because of Israeli policy.  And what was hit was not was was said int the above report, and of course they forgot to mention then fired on farmers in their fields yet again Friday morning, injuring them.

Gaza and West Bank under attack - again. CPOJ8bxWoAARbB-

Gaza has very few hours a day of electricity now.

Israeli warplanes bombarded the town of Beit Hanun in northern Gaza and a number of areas in southern Gaza late on Friday night.
A security post and several houses were damaged in the Jabaliya neighborhood. Witnesses say the Israeli warplanes also pounded the Abu Jarad district in Gaza.
Israeli media reports claimed that the attacks were conducted in retaliation for rockets fired at Israeli cities earlier in the day.
On Friday, a rocket fired at the southern city of Ashkelon was intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome missile system hours after another rocket hit an open area in the city of Sderot, the reports said, adding that the Sderot rocket caused no injuries and just damaged a bus.
A Daesh-linked Salafist group, calling itself “the Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade,” took responsibility for the rocket attack against Ashkelon.

Press TV? Just because a group claims responsibility, does not mean they actually have.
Rockets attacks are by the fact indiscriminate attacks, are classified as war crimes.
Israel after such indiscriminate attacks,  has every right and justification to target Military facilities of which these camps are.

Incitement over Temple Mount Leads to Palestinian Violence, Again

What you might have missed by relying on mainstream news coverage of recent Palestinian-Israeli developments— especially Arab attacks against Jews on or near Jerusalem's Temple Mount at Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year):

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas called Jewish history in Jerusalem a “delusional myth” according to a report by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW). The PA leader's remarks—made in an Aug. 1, 2015 speech to Muslim figures—occurred the same day as a narrator on PA state-run TV labeled stories about Jewish history in Jerusalem “delusions and legends.”

This ahistorical, anti-Jewish revisionism has been followed by violent attacks in Jerusalem on Judaism's most holy site, the Temple Mount. Abbas' allegations and those in media he controls violate the letter and the spirit of the 1993 Oslo Israeli-Palestinian accords and repeat a pattern that frequently has accompanied anti-Israel violence.

The latest incitement—echoing an old libel by Palestinian Arab leadership to the effect that “the Jews are attacking al-Aqsa”—was followed by organized violence against Jews on the Temple Mount that broke out on September 13, during Rosh Hashanah. The attacks (continuing at the time of this writing) include the use of gasoline bombs, rocks and fireworks by Palestinian Arabs and have resulted in the murder of one Israeli man so far and dozens more injured.

In his August 1 speech denying the 3,000 year-old Jewish connection to Jerusalem, Abbas claimed that Israel imagined it could “by brute force” “invent a history.” PA media elaborated on this imagined conspiracy, denying any Jewish connection to the land of Israel, eretz Yisrael, while inciting Palestinian Arabs:

“The story of the Temple is nothing but a collection of legends and myths for political reasons. They [Jews] have set Palestine and Jerusalem as their goal, and have used the myths in the service of their declared goals of occupation and imperialism. In the spirit of the delusions and legends, they try to get rid of the Al-Aqsa [mosque] and establish their so-called ‘Temple'—the greatest crime and forgery in history.”

Palestinian denial of Jewish history chronic and dangerous

In claiming that Jews held designs to “rid” Jerusalem of al-Aqsa mosque, located on Judaism's holiest site, Temple Mount, PA media were engaging in the latest in a long pattern of such falsehoods that often incited Arab violence against Jews. As the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) notes in a lengthy report on the subject, “'Al-Aqsa is in danger' is a classic libel that was embroidered in the first half of the twentieth century against the Jewish people, the Zionist movement, and eventually, the State of Israel” (The ‘Al-Aksa is in Danger' Libel: The History of a Lie, Nadav Shragai).

JCPA notes that the “birthfather” of this enduring libel was a future Adolf Hitler collaborator, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini. In 1924, al-Husseini falsely claimed al-Aqsa mosque was in danger from Jews to help him raise funds for the building's restoration. The mosque, in recent decades described as Islam's third holiest site, after Mecca and Medina, had languished in the latter part of Jerusalem's rule by the Ottoman Empire (1517-1917).

In 1929, the Mufti used lies alleging Jewish designs on the mosque to inflame an already organized and armed Palestinian Arab populace—leading to attacks on Jerusalem's Jewish neighborhoods and nearby Jewish communities that killed 133 Jewish men, women and children and wounded 339.

Use of the al-Aqsa libel to stir violence against Jews has been repeated many times since. For example, in 1969 a deranged Protestant fundamentalist named Dennis Michael Rohan attempted to set fire to the mosque. Not only did Palestinian leaders and press claim Jews committed the arson, Muslim bystanders attacked Israeli firemen attempting to put out the blaze.

In 2000, while engaging in U.S.-led peace talks with Israel, Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat simultaneously was arming and preparing for the second intifada. A Sept. 28, 2000 visit to the Temple Mount by then-Likud Party leader Ariel Sharon provided what senior Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti called a “good excuse” for outbreaks of organized violence and terrorist attacks that would, over the course of five years, murder more than 1,000 Israelis, mostly non-combatants, Jews and Arabs alike, and foreign visitors.

Israel's Islamic Movement stokes tension

For the last several decades, incitement at al-Aqsa and Temple Mount has been led by the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel, which, with financing from Persian Gulf Arabs, has bused in and paid stipends to Muslim Arabs to curse, threaten, and assault non-Muslim visitors. Such intimidation and attacks have prompted Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon to outlaw two of the North Branch's groups, the Morabiton and Morabitat (“Israel Bans Two Muslim Activist Groups From Temple Mount,” Ha'aretz, Sep. 9, 2015).

Abbas' denial of Jerusalem's Jewish history and Palestinian incitement to attack Jews violate numerous pledges made since Oslo. Yet, sidestepping and violating pacts he helped forge seems to be one of the PA leader's tactics. For example, Abbas reportedly seeks to cancel the Oslo agreements, according to a plan drafted by longtime Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat (“Abbas set to annul Oslo accords, declare Palestine a state under occupation,” Times of Israel, Sep. 7, 2015).

By rejecting the possibility of achieving Palestinian statehood via direct negotiations with Israel and resulting in peace between “Palestine” and Israel as a Jewish state Abbas—who has served 10 years of a single, elected four-year term—may be giving Palestinian Arabs what they want. A poll in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, conducted from June 7 to 19 by the Palestine Center for Public Opinion, shows a plurality prefer “reclaiming all of historic Palestine from the river to the sea” over a “two-state solution.”

The American novelist William Faulkner famously said “the past is not dead, it's not even past.” When it comes to rejecting peace agreements, denying Jewish connection to the land, and use of the “al-Aqsa is under attack” libel it appears that for Palestinian leadership the past is not only prologue, but also a playbook.

Palestinian Media Watch's report on Abbas' remarks can be found here.

Some people it seems will always defend terrorist attacks and think a nation should not be able to defend itself.

Not only that it is Fatah behind inciting violence on the Temple mount, all again based on religions.

The attack happened after two rockets were fired from Gaza into southern Israeli towns. The first was fired early on Friday and exploded near Sderot, damaging a house and a nearby bus, but no one was injured. The second rocket was fired just before midnight on Friday and was intercepted by the iron dome device just over Ashkelon.
A Salafist group known as the Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigades, who support but have not sworn allegiance to Islamic State, claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks.
The Israeli Defense Force spokesman’s office said the rocket fire would be treated with “utmost severity” and, despite the Salafist group taking responsibility, it still held Hamas responsible.

You cannot even get that right, a member of PMW had his evidence dismissed by one judge on a case.
Though Hilary Clinton backed their cause to stop children being taught hate.
So yet again we see the left claim that anything reported by a group is some how nulified based on one judge dismissing a member in one case.

Now that is not only laugfhable but desperate

Some people it seems will always defend terrorist attacks and think a nation should not be able to defend itself.

Not only that it is Fatah behind inciting violence on the Temple mount, all again based on religions.

The fact you call it 'The Temple Mount', when it hasn't been that for over 2000 years if it ever was, and despite the Israeli having digs to find evidence that was never found, but helped them trying to destroy the foundations of the mosque.

Press TV? Just because a group claims responsibility, does not mean they actually have.
Rockets attacks are by the fact indiscriminate attacks, are classified as war crimes.
Israel after such indiscriminate attacks,  has every right and justification to target Military facilities of which these camps are.
I see now where I have reasoned my points on the clashes at the Temple mount, you coneed to the points I made by now deflectinnt to other different media claims.

Guess they want to make sure Hamas can't destroy the ISIS group.

Correct Hamas are responsible for any attacks from Gaza into Israel.

Wow a name to describe an area which is far larger than the Mosque itself, places the daft religious aspects into context for people on here.
So even if for argument sake there is no evidence for the Temple of Soloman, there certainly is for the massive Temple complex built by Herod.

Or did you not think about that? Which means it will have religious significance

I am sure you can provide evidence to show Muhammad rose up on a winged horse, to back their claim to the Mosque being prominent then?
Any evidence Muhammad was ever in Jerusalem?

You cannot even get that right, a member of PMW had his evidence dismissed by one judge on a case.

So yet again we see the left claim that anything reported by a group is some how nulified based on one judge dismissing a member in one case.

Now that is not only laugfhable but desperate

Don't give shit what Mohammad did, the mosque has been there for hundreds of years and the Israeli's signed and agreement that Jews would not be allowed to pray there.

They tried to find evidence of a Temple underneath it and couldn't.

Hilarious. You just argued off Jewish claims to the significance of the Temple mount where you said so far there has been no evidence of a temple complex predating the Herod temple. So you are arguing off if something has religious significance based on historical and archeological physical evidence. Which means by your reasoning we have to apply the same to the Islamic claim of religious significance. Where they have zero evidence for the site being important in Islam. Clearly this has gone over your head, as their claim is in the realms of supernatural. They would need to show evidence Muhammad was ever ther.

DOH

Now if Herod went to such lavish expense of which he did and that when it was completed was basically a wonder of the ancient world, means it clearly had great religious significance to the Jews at the time of Herod. Or does that escape your attention? This points to the area clearly being viewed as holy for a considerable amount of time. We also have records that the Persians funded a second building of the temple.

So if you are arguing off physical evidence for the site being significant to the Jews, the same has to apply for physical evidence required to prove its significance to islam.

Like I say you end up destroying your own argument

Its the most desperate defense of the left where all you can ever do in debate is try to deligitimize.

Judge dismisses credibility of Palestinian Media Watch testimony
An Israeli district court judge metes out scathing criticism of Palestinian Media Watch director Itamar Marcus’s expert witness testimony on incitement in Palestinian media, in a civil case against the PA and its leaders. Marcus’s testimony, Judge Dalia Gano wrote, was incomplete, biased and unworthy of the title “expert witness testimony.”

The Palestinian Authority and its leaders voiced incitement against Jews and Israel, but they are not responsible for a shooting attack that killed an Israeli. That was the ruling three weeks ago by Judge Dalia Ganot in Tel Aviv-Jaffa District Court. In her ruling, the judge gave scathing criticism of the expert witness testimony of Itamar Marcus, founder of Palestinian Media Watch, testimony which was meant to buttress the plaintiffs’ position.
About a decade ago the family of a man killed in a shooting attack, whose identity was kept confidential during the legal proceedings, filed a suit for damages against the perpetrators and against Palestinian Authority officials (including Yasser Arafat ) and the PA itself. Among other things, the plaintiffs claimed through lawyer Shoshana Glass, that the PA and its senior officials bore indirect responsibility in consequence of their policy of incitement against Jews and Israel. The defendants, represented by Attorney Yoseph Arnon, denied responsibility.

In her verdict, Judge Ganot determined that, “without any doubt, the existence of incitement against Israel and against Jews in the Palestinian media” has been proven. However, she emphasized, “the plaintiffs argue there is a deliberate policy of incitement by the Palestinian Authority, while the defendants deny it.” The judge ultimately decided that a deliberate incitement policy had not been proven.

Palestinian Media Watch video (Screenshot)
The prosecution brought in Marcus as an expert witness: his research institute follows media reports inside the PA. Marcus’s conclusion was that there is indeed a clear policy of incitement against Israel and Jews. Judge Ganot read the quotes cited by Marcus from newspaper articles and watched the video clips that he had recorded, but ruled, “they do not support the expert witness’ conclusions.”
According to the judge, Marcus provided citations from the newspapers Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Al-Ayyam and Al-Quds, and the radio station Voice of Palestine, but “neglected to mention the existence of other media in his testimony: newspapers and television networks with large circulation in the Palestinian Authority.” The Judge emphasized, “he provided no explanation for his conduct, which diminishes the credibility and professionalism of his opinion. Judge Ganot later noted that  “expert witness Marcus was asked about the Al-Fajr newspaper and responded by saying, ‘I am not an expert on Al-Fajr [ ... ] and I wonder, what expertise is required for reading and comprehending the articles?”
She added that even though Al-Quds has the largest circulation within the Palestinian Authority’s area and Al-Hayat was the lowest circulating newspaper, most of the citations in Marcus’s expert testimony were taken from Al-Hayat. “The expert was asked why he acted in this manner, and he replied that he did so because Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, is owned by the Authority. To me as a researcher it does not matter even if not a single person reads this, I know what the positions of the Authority are because this is in fact its mouthpiece, so I don’t care that it only has 8,000 daily readers, I only care about the message that the Authority wants to convey to its people.”
“During the cross-examination expert Marcus agreed that WAFA is the official news agency linked to the PLO [ ... ] and yet he did not find it necessary to include even one quote from WAFA in his expert’s testimony.”
According to Judge Ganot, “this answer is somewhat problematic, because if the purpose of this expert-witness testimony is to prove the existence of a policy of incitement, designed for the masses, it stands to reason that this policy will be reflected in the more popular newspapers, which have a higher circulation among residents of the Palestinian Authority. Therefore it follows that if the alleged messages are being brought to the attention of the handful of people who actually read Al-Quds [should probably al-Hayat ] where is the policy of incitement? Furthermore, during his cross-examination, expert Marcus agreed that WAFA is the official news agency linked to the PLO [ ... ] and despite this the expert witness did not find it necessary to include even one quotation from WAFA. It would stand to reason that if there were such a policy of incitement, is would be expressed most clearly and strongly in the official media of the PLO.”
The judgment also mentioned that Marcus was questioned as to why he didn’t include any citations from the TV networks Aljazeera and al-Arabiya, which are very popular among residents of the Palestinian Authority. “As far as  Al-Arabiya TV is concerned,” writes the judge in her verdict, “he maintained that ‘we do not watch Al-Arabiya’, and in regard to Aljazeera he said that he and his team only listen to it ‘very rarely’, and again, the unavoidable conclusion that is that Marcus’s expert-witness testimony expert is skewed and in fact it is biased, especially when it became clear that on one hand it used quotations from insignificant newspapers, and on the other hand it has been established that the testimony ignored the existence of other newspapers and television networks that are very popular among the residents of the Palestinian Authority.
“Note that we are dealing with an attempt to prove a policy of incitement. It is reasonable to assume that if it is a policy, the PA leadership would make use of the most popular media – newspapers and television networks –  to get its messages across. That is so because that’s obviously the way its messages would reach the largest and broadest audience. So the conclusion is that the plaintiffs did not prove the existence of a policy of incitement, though, as I already mentioned, they have proven conclusively the existence incitement in the Palestinian media, incitement which is often, as appears from the recording tendered here, nothing but nauseating slander.”
Further down in her verdict judge Ganot highlights the fact that Marcus’s testimony was based on an examination of the media from 1995 to 2010. Marcus, the judgment states, concurred that during this period the Palestinian media published thousands of articles, but his expert testimony is based on 76 articles only. According to the ruling, Marcus was asked, “Do you believe that 76 articles cited form a representative sample that can prove that the content published or broadcast in the PA during those 15 years, especially the policy of incitement alleged, and his surprising answer was “definitely.”
” I can only wonder,” writes judge Ganot, “can the citation of 76 articles over a period of 15 years be a representative sample of the mindset prevailing in the Palestinian media during this period, and does it constitute proof of the existence of a policy of incitement? The answer is – absolutely not and this answer is further reinforced by the observation that not all of the cited articles constitute incitement; [in some] the speakers express their opinions on Israel’s ongoing political behavior.”
Judge Ganot adds that “the submission of a set of quotes in expert witness Marcus’s testimony, especially given that some are painful to read and watch, creates the impression of something very persuasive and dramatic from which to deduce the existence of a policy of incitement. But, as I mentioned, such an impression is created through the reading and uninterrupted viewing of 76 articles and several tapes, some of which are toxic and constitute obvious incitement, and some are an expressions of political views that cannot be defined as incitement under any circumstances, and most importantly, this is a  non-representative sample set of 76 articles out of tens of thousands of articles published in the period covered in the testimony, and one does not need a degree in statistics in order to conclude that 76 articles out of tens of thousands cannot indicate the existence of a policy of incitement.”
” [ ... ] The fact that the expert submitted only 76 articles, not all of which, as I mentioned, are hateful, evokes a feeling of discomfort and leads to the conclusion that the expert-witness testimony is not a statistical review, but very truncated collection of data on a specific subject and the personal conclusions of the expert that are not corroborated by the testimony itself. Note: there is no doubt about the existence of a clear incitement against Israel and Jews in the Palestinian media, but the kind of proof required by the court has not been proven.”
According to Judge Ganot, “Marcus’s expert-witness testimony does not meet the definition of ‘expert-witness testimony.’ Marcus said at the opening of his testimony and when he was questioned [ ... ] that he was engaged in the accumulation of material that supports the plaintiffs’ claims with respect to the existence of an incitement policy by the Palestinian media, including drawing conclusions in regarding to the existence of the alleged causal connection between the policy of incitement in question and the murder of the deceased. Accumulating and quoting of such  material does not constitute an expert-witness testimony. All the more so when no media documentation supporting the causal link between that incitement and murder has been provided, and when expert-witness Marcus does not possess the knowledge and means necessary for establishing such a causal relationship.”
“Marcus’s expert-witness testimony is very biased and very deficient. It does not cover all the mass media with a footprint in the Palestinian Authority, but only some of them, and even then it actually highlights those which are less significant in terms of their reach – the newspaper Al-Hayat Al-Jadida.  The expert-witness testimony totally ignores articles which do not support the desired conclusion, such as articles supporting a dialogue and peace. The testimony includes quotes from articles where there is no incitement, but expression of opinions, it ignores the citing of the Israeli press in Palestinian media. But most importantly and above all – it relies on a handful of items 76 articles, which do not all contain incitement, out of tens of thousands of items and articles published in the Palestinian media during the 15 years studied, and in my opinion it is not possible to establish a claim of a policy incitement on a handful of articles. Furthermore, the inferable conclusion by relying on the 76 articles submitted is that the other tens of thousands articles that were published during the examined period did not engaged in incitement.”
Because of this, and for other reasons, the judge rejected the plaintiffs’ claims . “This is not easy for me,” she noted. “Their immense suffering touched my heart, the disaster that fell upon them was terribly painful. Their account regarding the identity of the murderers of the late John Doe is not unfounded, but they did not meet the legal burdens imposed on them, and were unable to prove their case.”

lol exactly what I said, he dimissed the testimony of one person.
Not only that, the Judge mainly ruled on his work not including other media networks.
That was his main point for dismissing claiming thus a lack of balance

See how desperate the left are.

That does not then rule out many reports they have made.

Not only is all this hatred is being embedded in the minds of Palestinian children, but peace-building contacts between Israeli and Palestinian youth are also prohibited by the PA, PMW explains. Any person-to-person contact between Palestinian and Israeli youth is condemned as “normalization.” The head of the PA’s Council for Sport and Youth Affairs in fact denounced a successful peace-building event as “a crime against humanity.”
When former US Senator Hillary Clinton joined PMW at a press conference in 2007 to release its report on PA schoolbooks, the then senator said that the Palestinian education system “profoundly poisons the minds of these children.” adding that some of the videos glorifying so-called martyrs were tantamount to “child abuse.”
The current report demonstrates that there has been no improvement. The PA continues to poison the minds of its children.
“Palestinian children are exposed to all of these [hate] messages, not from Hamas or fringe groups, but from official PA sources,” PMW stressed.

No you just did not read your article very well.

The Judge ruled he could not be an expert on the Palestinian Media, when the claim was made on one of these being run by the authorities and how he had left out far bigger ones circulatinng.
So the Judge was clear on dismissing a particular claim to be an expert on their media. Which as seen he was not an expert on.
The judge's rfeasoning was based also on a subjective point of view, circulation.
Seriously try and read your articles better next time so you do not continue to look like a twit lol

Gaza and West Bank under attack - again. Empty Re: Gaza and West Bank under attack - again.

Post by Guest Mon Sep 21, 2015 11:42 am

This week’s publication of a U.S.-funded study cleared the Palestinians of charges that their schoolbooks ‘demonize’ Israel. This was not, however, the first hoop they’ve been made to jump through, and it won’t be the last.
The Israeli and U.S. Jewish establishment reaction to the terrible news that the Palestinians don’t demonize Jews in their textbooks reminded me of the long-forgotten uproar over the Palestinian Covenant.  Same bullshit. The stout-hearted nationalist Jews in the U.S. and Israel were saying in unison, “How can we ever trust the Palestinians to make peace when their covenant talks about ”liberating all of Palestine’?” And they made this their cause celebre – they lobbied Congress, they lobbied Clinton (this was in the mid-to-late 1990s), and Clinton pressured Arafat, until finally Arafat convened the relevant PLO council and they voted to take out the offending phrases. Clinton even went to Gaza at the end of 1998 for the historic event. He told the assembly: “You have sent, I say again, a powerful message not to the government, but to the people of Israel. You will touch people on the street there. You will reach their hearts there.”
I loved that. Nobody in Israel, no Jew on earth gave a good goddamn that they changed the Palestinian Covenant. But then none of them cared about the original “liberating all of Palestine” Palestinian Covenant, either. As soon as the vote in Gaza to amend it was finally taken, the whole issue vanished for the Israeli and American Jewish right as if it had never existed. This particular orange had been squeezed dry, and now it was time to move on – to find another issue over which to put the Palestinians on the defensive, to keep the world’s flashlight in their eyes and not in Israel’s, to find another hoop for them to jump through before Israel might be asked to slow the occupation train down just a tad.
So it is with the Palestinian textbooks. All this supposed distress over what the Palestinians are teaching their children about Israel and the Jews, this insistence that they clean up their textbooks as a condition for “peace”  - it’s another one of the old “stop Oslo” ploys of the Israeli and American Jewish right. A bunch of right-wing propagandists like Itamar Marcus and Palestinian Media Watch have been harping on all this “demonization” in Palestinian textbooks, and the intended effect, of course, has been to discredit Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority, to blacken the Palestinians’ name and thus make it harder for them to get Israel off their neck. And that’s what’s happened – right-wing Zionists everywhere who of course don’t know a word of Arabic have been hammering away at the Palestinian textbooks for nearly two decades, saying there can be no peace until those books are scrubbed good and thorough. Do right-wing Zionists want peace? No, they want the Palestinians to keep scrubbing.
But this week a three-year study of Palestinian and Israeli textbooks came out, backed by a $590,000 U.S. State Department grant and billed credibly by its authors as being “among the most comprehensive, fact-based investigations ever done of school textbooks.” It found that while neither side exactly educates its kids for peace, they don’t demonize or vilify the other side, either, except in “very rare” cases.
“Academic study weakens Israeli claim that Palestinian school texts teach hate,” wrote the New York Times. “New textbook study threatens to undercut argument that Palestinian schools preach hate,” wrote the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Oh no, what will we do? Maybe we can Goldstone these professors. “Whitewashing incitement,” said the Strategic Affairs Ministry. “Maliciously slandering the Israeli educational system and the State of Israel,” said the Education Ministry. “Distorted and counterproductive,” said Abe Foxman, a liberal compared to most other American Jewish machers.
If these people were really concerned about demonization of Israel in Palestinian schoolbooks as an obstacle to peace, they would take the findings of the study as wonderful news – hey, we were worried for nothing, it’s not a problem, let’s make peace! Just like they might have taken the changing of the Palestinian Covenant as great news.
Or like they might have welcomed the PLO’s recognition of Israel 25 years ago, which answered their long-standing No. 1 demand for proof of the Palestinians’ good intentions.
Or like they might be convinced by the PA’s fight against terror under Abbas, which has been their No. 1 demand for the last 25 years.
But no. There is literally nothing the Palestinians can or ever could do to satisfy the demands of the Israeli and American Jewish right – which now have a lock on power – because these are not demands made with an eye toward peace, they’re weapons in an information war to keep the Palestinians down. If the Palestinians recognize Israel, they’ll be told they have to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. If they fight terror, they’ll be told they now have to fight incitement. If they amend the Palestinian Covenant, they’ll be met with blank stares. And if they turn out not to be demonizing Israel in their schoolbooks, they’ll be told that yes they are, and even if they’re not, they’re demonizing Israel somewhere else. If this orange has been squeezed dry, not to worry – there are plenty more oranges where that came from.

Book review: how Israeli school textbooks teach kids to hate

At the height of Israel’s brutal 2008-09 assault on the Gaza Strip, then-foreign minister Tzipi Livni claimed that “Palestinians teach their children to hate us and we teach love thy neighbor” (232).
The first part of this myth is propagated by people like US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and more recently Newt Gingrich, who both spread the baseless claim that Palestinian schoolbooks teach anti-Semitism. This calumny originated with anti-Palestinian propagandandists such as Israeli settler Itamar Marcus and his “Palestinian Media Watch.”
In an important new book, Palestine in Israeli School Books, Israeli language and education professor Nurit Peled-Elhanan buries the second part of Livni’s myth once and for all.
Peled-Elhanan examines 17 Israeli school textbooks on history, geography and civic studies. Her conclusions are an indictment of the Israeli system of indoctrination and its cultivation of anti-Arab racism from an early age: “The books studied here harness the past to the benefit of the … Israeli policy of expansion, whether they were published during leftist or right-wing [education] ministries” (224).
She goes into great detail, examining and exposing the sometimes complex and subtle ways this is achieved. Her expertise in semiotics (the study of signs and symbols) comes to the fore.
Inculcation of anti-Palestinian ideology in the minds of Israel’s youth is achieved in the books through the use of exclusion and absence: “none of the textbooks studied here includes, whether verbally or visually, any positive cultural or social aspect of Palestinian life-world: neither literature nor poetry, neither history nor agriculture, neither art nor architecture, neither customs nor traditions are ever mentioned” (49).

Palestinians marginalized, demonized by Israeli textbooks

On the occasions Palestinians (including Palestinian citizens of Israel) are mentioned, it is in an overwhelmingly negative, Orientalist and demeaning light: “all [the books] represent [Palestinians] in racist icons or demeaning classificatory images such as terrorists, refugees and primitive farmers — the three ‘problems’ they constitute for Israel” (49).
“For example in MTII [Modern Times II, a 1999 history text book] there are only two photographs of Palestinians, one of face-covered Palestinian children throwing stones ‘at our forces’ … [t]he other photograph is of ‘refugees’ … placed in a nameless street” (72).
This what Peled-Elhanan terms “strategies of negative representation.” She explains that “Palestinians are often referred to as ‘the Palestinian problem.’” While this expression is even used by writers considered “progressive,” the term “was salient in the ultra-right-wing ideology and propaganda of Meir Kahane,” the late Israeli politician and rabbi who openly called for the Palestinians to be expelled. Peled-Elhanan finds this disturbing, coming as it does “only 60 years after the Jews were called ‘The Jewish Problem’ ” (65).
She reprints examples of the crude Orientalist cartoon representations of Arabs, “imported into Israeli school book [sic] from European illustrations of books such as The Arabian Nights” (74). Arab men stand, dressed in Oriental garb, often riding camels. The cartoons of Arab women show them seated submissively, dressed in traditional outfits. Meanwhile, two Israelis on the same page are “depicted as a ‘normal’ — though caricaturistic — Western couple, unmarked by any ‘Jewish’ or ‘other’ object-signs” (110-11). The message is clear: Arabs do not belong here with “us.”

Justifications for massacre

Peled-Elhanan concludes: “The books studied here present Israeli-Jewish culture as superior to the Arab-Palestinian one, Israeli-Jewish concepts of progress as superior to Palestinian-Arab way of life and Israeli-Jewish behavior as aligning with universal values” (230).
While Israeli war crimes are not entirely ignored, the textbooks do their best to downplay or justify massacres and ethnic cleansing. “[T]he Israeli version of events are stated as objective facts, while the Palestinian-Arab versions are stated as possibility, realized in openings such as ‘According to the Arab version’ … [or] ‘Dier [sic.] Yassin became a myth in the Palestinian narrative … a horrifying negative image of the Jewish conqueror in the eyes of Israel’s Arabs’ ” (50-1).
Deir Yassin was a Palestinian village where, in 1948, a notorious massacre of around 100 persons by terrorists from the Zionist militias Irgun, Lehi and Hagana took place. Yet note in the example above that is is only the negative image of Israel that is “horrifying.” The massacre of unarmed men, women and children is otherwise not a cause for concern.

Israeli education going backwards

With reference to previous studies of Israeli school textbooks, Peled-Elhanan finds that, despite some signs of improvement in the 1990s, the more recent books she examined have if anything got worse. The issue of the Nakba, the forced expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland in 1948, is for the most part not ignored, but instead justified.
For example, in all the books mentioning Deir Yassin, the massacre is justified because: “the slaughter of friendly Palestinians brought about the flight of other Palestinians which enabled the establishment of a coherent Jewish state” — a result so self-evidently good it doesn’t need explaining (178).
Contrary to the hope of previous studies “for ‘the appearance of a new narrative in [Israeli] history textbooks’ … some of the most recent school books (2003-09) regress to the ‘first generation’ [1950s] accounts — when archival information was less accessible — and are, like them ‘replete with bias, prejudice, errors, [and] misrepresentations’ ” (228).
There is some sloppy editing here, and the academic jargon at times slips into the realm of mystifying. But those quibbles aside, Peled-Elhanan’s book is the definitive account of just how Israeli schoolchildren are brainwashed by the state and society into hatred and contempt of Palestinians and Arabs, immediately before the time they are due to enter the army as young conscripts.

Oh dear, not using the cop out routine of pretending your remark was humorous are you Nicko?   You might not take the death and destruction of women and children seriously, I do, whoever they are and wherever they are.

Well we can see the results of some of the Palestinian teaching methods:

Palestinian children in Gaza recently participated in a kids’ TV show and expressed their desire to join the military wing of the Hamas organization in order to wage jihad and “blow up the Jews.” MEMRI has the video. More in The Times of Israel.

I think you are projecting your shortcomings on to me Nicko, I'm not the one who can only add stipey little comments to a discussion because I haven't got the brains to actually join in and make a contribution.

Evening SM, it gets worse:

Bennett as education minister: Less science, more Judaism

Bennett’s party website lists promoting ‘love for land and [Jewish] people’ as a top priority; the Education Ministry already announced that fewer classroom hours will be devoted to core subjects like math, language and history.

Along with the announcement that Netanyahu finally formed a governing coalition Wednesday night came the anticipated news that Israel’s next education minister will be Naftali Bennett, head of the Jewish Home party. Bennett, who already had his eye on inculcating religious-Zionist values in the nation’s youth, is expected to make changes to the state curriculum in order to bring it further in line with his party’s worldview.

The Jewish Home party’s website [Heb] lists the promotion of Jewish-Zionist values as one of its core aims. Promoting “love for the land and [Jewish] people” throughout state schools is identified as its most urgent task, saying that it wants to introduce a new “Jewish-Zionist education” unit in public schools. The party also points out what it calls a problematic trend in recent years: the amount of time spent studying Jewish history and religious texts has apparently decreased by 50 percent. This, therefore, can be expected to be one of Bennett’s key areas of focus in his new role.
On this note, Bennett is striding onto fertile ground. Last month, Israel’s Channel 10 reported that the Education Ministry announced a shift in priorities for the upcoming academic year. Primarily, the number of classroom hours in schools spent on core subjects such as language, science and mathematics. In their place, more teaching hours are to be devoted to Jewish values and national/civic duty. National-religious kindergartens are also a target for this shift, with a new onus on teachers creating activities that focus on “the promise of the land of Israel to the forefathers,” and “Temple Studies.”
Bennett’s appointment also follows what has been a fraught year in Israel’s classrooms. During last summer’s Gaza war, a number of teachers warned of the increasingly racist atmosphere within schools, from barely concealed intolerance to outright hostility and aggression. They reported that students’ ire was directed not only against Palestinians but also leftists, whom they condemned as “traitors.”
At the beginning of 2014, a national incident arose after Adam Verete, a high-school teacher, criticized the perception of the IDF as “the world’s most moral army” during a class. A student of his went public with the exchange, which led to Verete being investigated by the school board. Although he narrowly managed to hold on to his job at the time, he was later fired — apparently due to budget cuts.
With the Education Ministry now controlled by a party that veers towards fascism, the prospects for turning back the tide of racism that is washing over Israel’s classrooms look bleak. The crowding out of democracy in Israel’s classrooms is nothing new, but Israel is entering a new era under its most right-wing, religious government yet. If the future truly is in the hands of our children, we may have serious cause for concern.

It doesn't help that Sassy actually linked to Sinn Fein, and quoted Martina Anderson. She has no moral high ground whatsoever, and has no right to lecture anyone about murderous and aggressive behaviour IMO.

Quite.  Sometimes I think he's just trying to convince himself because he can't believe that people who were terrorised in the Holocaust can become terrorists.  It's not a pleasant thought, but it's the truth.
