A third of them in the UK?

It's interesting that they're putting it down to a high-fat diet rather than a high-sugar diet. That suggests it's the calories which count, rather than the sugar content of what they eat.

It doesn't say if those people are fatter than the average Brit of European descent, or if the 5,000 they studied were representative in all respects.

Also, don't confuse the end result of being a bit fat as necessarily being caused by a high fat diet, and the subsequent root cause of the diabetes.

Diabetes is not about the bodys inability in dealing with fats in diet, it is about The inability of dealing with too much sugar/carbs... and a side effect of too much sugar/carb is being increasingly fat.

I wouldn't have said the Chinese and Africans have a high sugar diet? High fat, yes, ceryainly, but not high sugar?
