What is something that should be taught to children?

I saw this question on Facebook “What is something that should be taught to children?” and someone answered:
“How to vote.”
That there is someone out there that thinks this is a sensible answer is worrying to me.

It's a brilliant question though. 
I would say, especially in todays world when people are judged on how they look, who they know, what they have etc... Acceptance, to accept other people for what they are.
I really think acceptance of others, is a good lesson to learn when you are young.

I'm with Horatio on this one. I think I'll add learn how to converse quietly in public no need to let half the nation hear what you are saying.

I have several. Don't eat with your mouth open. Don't talk with your mouth full. Don't lean your elbows on the table. Hold your knife and fork properly. Don't eat with your fingers unless it's finger food.

Went to a carvery today, my head was ringing by the time I came out. People are so loud these days. Everyone seems to be vying to have the loudest conversation and don't start me on the cackling laughter.

Learn to tell the difference between that voice that tells you your truth and the many other voices crowding up your brain.
To cause pain to another being without just cause is evil.
If you only had one possession to use to get you through life, it would be your most valuable possession. Well, the only thing you actually possess is yourself, so value yourself accordingly.
While life is full of gray areas, some things are true and some things are false, some things are right and some things are wrong -- but very few things are always true, always false, always right or always wrong.
It's okay to be confused, that's part of the learning process. Don't take any shortcuts when it comes to relieving confusion.

And the opinions you do form shouldn't be set in stone! There's nothing wrong with changing your mind as you learn and mature.
