Still waiting for any environmentalists to condemn Gazans for deliberately setting wildffires in Israel

A series of fires broke out on Monday in southern Israel, apparently as a result of flaming objects flown over the border from the Gaza Strip.

During recent clashes on the Gaza border, Palestinians have adopted a new tactic of sending blazing kites into Israel, sparking fires in nearby agricultural lands.

In a first, helium-filled balloons carrying flaming material were used to start a number of Monday’s blazes, according to Hebrew media reports.

As a result of the fires, hundreds of dunams (dozens of acres) of wheat fields were burned. There were no reports of injuries.

In addition to the flaming balloons sent over the border, a suspected booby trapped kite was reported to have landed near Kibbutz Nahal Oz.

Head of the UN Fact Finding Mission Justice Richard Goldstone presented the report of the Mission to the Human Rights Council in Geneva on 29 September 2009, urging the Council and the international community as a whole to put an end to impunity for violations of international law in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory.[64] The Goldstone report accepted that white phosphorus is not illegal under international law but did find that the Israelis were "systematically reckless in determining its use in build-up areas". It also called for serious consideration to be given to the banning of its use as an obscurant.[65]

So they Exploited a loop hole claiming it was used to Obscure vision, even thought there are many Obscurant that wouldn't cause Inhumane injuries to Civilians. And it was judged we need to seriously consider making the Israeli actions officially a war crime since in practical terms the results were that bad

Really a lot of farmers would back burn the fields after harvest anyway.

and the environmental Impact? for a few dozen acres   
the farmer across the road from me burns back 100's of acres at least once a year, Driving to the main town. when it's been the right condition for back  burning, you'll pass 1000's of acres of back burned fields.

the only real difference in the OP is they were burnt before harvest.
