Just privatise this scum! After replacing every fireman!

Firefighters in England and Wales are holding a five-hour strike on Friday in a long-running row over pensions.

The strike is due to last between noon and 17:00 BST and be followed by further action on Saturday afternoon and night and during the day on Sunday.

The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) opposes plans to increase the retirement age and make changes to pensions.

The government said firefighters had "one of the most generous pension schemes in all the public sector".

Further walkouts are planned over the weekend, from 14:00 on Saturday to 02:00 in the early hours of Sunday and again later in the day between 10:00 and 15:00.

Trainee firefighters start on just over £21,000 a year. This rises to around £28,500 once qualified and passed as competent after probation.

Crew managers can earn up to £31,500 a year, and station managers can earn between £36,500 and £40,500 a year.

Retained firefighters are paid a fee, which can be between £2,100 and £2,800 a year.

Normal retirement age - 55.

30 years service = around £20,000 per year, paid immediately upon retirement - not a bad pension to be honest.

What the hell do the public service want from us?
