Re: Yummy
Is it just me then that's craving for simple foods at the moment?
I am living on fresh fish and salads....it must be a reaction to all the rich food eaten over the last month.

Re: Yummy
I love this site as well as tasty. Most of the food is outrageously cheesy gooiness but oh so yummy.
I’ve made the sliders before. Usually for Super Bowl Sunday.
Food 52, Spendid Table and Natasha’s kitchen are some other sites I follow. Good recipes on all. Oh and Ina Garten the Barefoot Contessa.
Syl I would love some fresh fish. Alas the downside of living nag in the dessert although we get huge prawns from Rocky Point in Mexico.

They are indeed fantastic!
American. I moved to England when I was 16, met Mr. C, had the juniors, lived there in total for 25 years if you count 3 years in Germany and 3 in Cyprus.
We came to Arizona in 2008 as Mr. C was given a posting here, we liked it so much, the boys were settled and more opportunities for them here, and as he had done 25 years and was offered a job by a US company he retired, got his pension and we stayed. The juniors were already dual citizens and Mr. C became a US citizen in 2014.
I consider myself half n half
I never did get UK citizenship, had right to remain, will get a pension blah blah blah. My mum did though although she’s over here now too since my stepdad died nearly 4 years ago.
I miss the UK so much in some ways.

It sounds like you have had a great life, and feeling like you belong both here and in the US has given you the best of those worlds.
Not sure why but I always thought you were a Brit living abroad...thanks for replying. x

I’ve been lucky, very lucky to have had those opportunities.
It’s probably because I talk about pork pies all the time

Ladies, until you have eaten a couscous royale in a restaurant patronised by locals in the, er, brothel quarter in downtown Marrakesh, you haven't lived.
Ps: No...I ain't going to elaborate!

As a Yorkshireman, born and bred, I have to admit, with the greatest reluctance, that yes, it does. Very favourably, in fact.
Ps: I've only been to Betty's in Harrogate (as befitting a member of the nobility and gentry)....I didn't know there was one in York.

There is one Fred, and usually a long queue to get in.

I have to say that I always found York to be one long queue of people waiting to get in somewhere!

Re: Yummy
I suppose if you want to get into the Minster or the castle there are always queue's...we don't go for the heritage though. more to see grandson, shops, and have a nice meal.
On Saturday I was expecting it to be heaving everywhere...had to wait just 45 minutes for a table at favourite Italian restaurant, and there was a nice bar to wait in, so it was good.

I don't often get to York now, Syl....it's a bit of a hike from my current domicile near Milton Keynes!!!!!!!
But we were there last year and got into the Minster with no problem at all, and I even managed to find the wall plaque in memory of Archbishop Robert Holgate of York, the founder of my old school more than 500 years ago.

Re: Yummy
Okay, so I make something I call grill fries. Love those things.
I take ordinary frozen french fries, coat them in vegetable oil, spice them up with garlic salt and black pepper, and wrap them up in foil.
Then I put them on a hot grill over a fire of charcoal and hickory chunks (mesquite works well too). About 3-5 minutes on each side, with the foil ventilated, and a few minutes of smoking (lid down) in there as well. Plus they bake when the lid's down, because the grill temperature gets up to 400-500 degrees F.
With a little jalapeno ketchup, they bite back

Hahahahaha, well, it's more of an art than a science -- I'd probably have to show you in person.
For one example, this is how I gauge if one side's been exposed to direct heat long enough -- I play country music really loud, and if the song is short then I'll let it go until halfway through the next song, but if it's long I'll flip it before the song is over. I also use the weight of my beer can as a guide
